MDR on Getaway Question

We are sailing the Getaway in a couple of weeks. This is our first time on the new Bigger NCL ships. I reserved dining each night in one of the restaurants. My questions center around the 3 MDR Tropicana, Savor, and Taste -

1) Do they serve the same menu in each of those restaurants on the same night? Meaning, I assume the change the menu each day, but is the menu the same in all 3 places on that particular night?

2) If we happen to like the atmosphere in the Tropicana for example, can we just dine there each night instead of going to Taste or Savor where we reserved ahead of time?

3) I left 1 evening open without booking or reserving a time slot - Can I just show up at one of the main places and get on a list or ask to be seated if the have the availability?

Thanks for the help.

The same menu is served in all three restaurants.

If you reserved at a restaurant (which you honestly don't need to do), you can move those reservations around. The only time I'd reserve is if you have a large group, want to eat before a show and time is important to you, plan on eating after an early show (when there might be a surge in people going to eat), or maybe for Tropicana for the first sea day, since that is the "dress up or not" night and more people want to eat in Tropicana that night more than the other rooms.

Unless you fall into one of the categories above, there is no need to have a reservation for a MDR. You might have a short wait (we waited maybe 15 minutes or so for Tropicana on the dress up night), but it usually isn't an issue.

In general, you do not need any reservations for the MDRs. Show up and be seated (there will be a line at prime time, but it moves quickly as they can seat people.

The restaurants serve similar/same menus each night. The menus rotate nightly so there will be new "specials of the night". There is always a non-changing part of the menu with a steak, pasta, etc. Tropicana has live music during the early dining hours. And a mini-Burn the Floor performance (which you can really only see if you are in the first few rows from the dance floor.

Contrary to others, I recommend reservations based on our experience and observations last week. I made them prior to boarding for both specialty and MDRs and so glad I did. So much more relaxing. We were seated immediately at peak times when others were left waiting. Also provided peace of mind that we would make post dinner shows and entertainment in time.

In contrast, we decided to punt our last night believing we could easily be seated for a late dinner after enjoying time in the spa. Big mistake. Got shuttled to other restaurants and almost didn't get seated before they closed seating for the night.

Loved Savor and Taste!! More intimate atmosphere than Tropicana. The food and service far exceeded our expectations. Many outstanding dishes that had us oohing and ahhing. It was a delight seeing my 18 and 21 yo DDs enjoying new dishes and taking food porn pictures.

I made reservations for both specialty and MDR and I highly recommend doing such. Because of a late excursion arrival, I and companion were 20 minutes late for the MDR reservation and had over an hour wait to be seated. I'm certain this is not the norm, but I'd rather not have that experience again.
