On yesterdays Patter it shows no bars opening until 11.00 a.m. but also says have a Bloody Mary for breakfast in the Wake View Bar! Have they printed the wrong opening times please?

After another disappointing visit to the World Fresh Marketplace for lunch (hoping it's just a preview cruise thing) we went outside on deck again to check out the Lobster Grill and there is now a menu:

No mention of Dim Sum at the lunchtime slot. The burgers, hot dog and fries are complimentary.

I chose the Salt and Pepper Lobster and it was cooked to order and delivered to our table. It had half a dozen tempura covered Lobster pieces, tempura green beans, tempura aubergine pieces (eggplant), 3 slices of corn on the cob, fries and creamy coleslaw on the side. There is quite a lot of lobster meat but not sure I would pay $18 again.

Chris chose the cheeseburger and fries - the burger was quite thick and too pink so he left it.

Interesting that they brought in the Tenors of Rock for the maiden voyage. We almost saw them this week when we were in Vegas as we've heard from friends that their show is fantastic (but loud). Kudos to Princess for upping the entertainment ante!

From today's PP, it looks like there was no bingo scheduled for the first sea day; I wonder if they are dumping the game for the Asian market in favor of mah jongg (although the final page of the Patter was missing....)

We will be doing the 56-day trip on Majestic from Barcelona to Shanghai and are enjoying the heck out of your very informative and detailed information. Thanks so much for taking your precious cruise time to keep us all posted!

I just have two questions:

1) Is there gelato served in the International Café or in its own venue (like on Regal & Royal)?

2) Can you use the coffee card punches for anything other than tea & coffee drinks in the International Café? I love bubble tea and am hoping we can use punches for that, too.

Thank you:)

Checking out the pics and the deck plans online this is definitely not the ship for me. Hopefully it fits the desires of the Chinese market well but it really wouldn't work for me at all. Glad the OP is enjoying the cruise and hope that those who are booked for the next cruise love the ship and the experience.

Many thanks for the review, the pics of the ship, the patters, and the menus.

La Mer French Bistro menu

Cover charge is $35. We won't be eating there as not to Chris' taste

La Mer continues the disappointing trend started by SHARE where your options were limited to the choice of one item and additional items were extra charge. Other than the two uninspiring "Welcome" items you only have a choice one hors d'oeuvre, one main, and one dessert. If you added a second main your $35 cover charge would by $50. Hope they don't start doing that at the Crown Grill where we combine the lobster and filet for a good meal.

One more quick question, if you don't mind me asking. Who are the current Cruise Director Assistants? We always participate in the activities, games and trivia, so get to know them pretty well. I assume they will stay on until Shanghai?

Thanks!

I have to wonder if they will even have trivia once the ship hits the Chinese market. If so, I wonder if the answers to the questions will be any more (or less) accurate than they are now.

Will the crew have the same sort of makeup as it does on other Princess ships or will there be a large component of Chinese staff? I'm not conversant with the Chinese economy so unclear how that might play out. I have to wonder how the Chinese passengers will feel about crew from other parts of the world. I know there is a pretty deeply held prejudice against anybody with dark skin which includes brown skin.

We have had Ramon from Spain and Natalie from Australia so far. Will need to chat more with them to find out their plans. There are only about 15% Chinese staff at the moment but expecting to increase over time.
