Gistfamily Posted April 14, 2017 #1 Share Posted April 14, 2017 i have read on these boards that the Getaway has a "new" wifi package. But when i check online it only shows 3 packages 100 mins, 250 mins and unlimited. How do i find info on the Social Chat, Basic and Premium. I don't know if they are still offered or worth it but I would like to know. Sailing on Getaway Sunday.
reaperman Posted April 14, 2017 #2 Share Posted April 14, 2017 I just got off the getaway last week. I didn't sign up for internet, but I briefly remember there only being 3 packages offered, other than the standard rate of .75/minute without a plan. But I was able access their internet with a workaround I figured out on the ship. I will keep the details to myself but only worked with android, sorry ios users. reaperman Posted April 15, 2017 #5 Share Posted April 15, 2017 I'm tempted to spill the beans after the way O'Sheehans blew me off three times last week on my cruise. But sometimes revenge is best served cold. Enjoy your vacation, your there to forget about the outside world and escape the internet and cell phones. I bought the 250 mins and never ate it up as I was there to disconnect from others. If you like texting a few friends and sending snaps of your travels you might be pertfectly fine with the daily plan. If you are really chatty and addicted to being connected, in other words, can't put your device down, (not judging...just saying) then get an unlimited version and share all your travel thoughts! perditax Posted April 15, 2017 #7 Share Posted April 15, 2017 Here's a picture from a few weeks ago: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showpost.php?p=52659875&postcount=34 There's a report of someone's experiences on the Escape with the premium. Speeds seemed barely acceptable to me. Ignore people who brag about their hacks, just hope they're not on your cruise. It's not like there's enough bandwidth to go around without people stealing it. (Also ignore people who tell you you're required to "disconnect" on vacation. Weird seeing both things in one post, but whatever.)
Coastalbreezes Posted April 15, 2017 #8 Share Posted April 15, 2017 Also with the new Lattitudes program, if you are Platinum you'll receive 30 free internet minutes; Platinum Plus, 60 minutes; and Ambassador, 100 minutes free. If you are part of the Casinos at Sea program and are a Ruby level player (formerly VIP) you'll get 400 internet minutes free or if you are an Elite level player you'll have unlimited internet for up to 12 days. Was on Getaway two weeks ago and the internet was much faster than on previous cruises. Tracy
