Check-In Appointment Times: Enforced or Not (3pm seems late)

Hi

 

Our first time on RCI, we are on Independance from Southampton on 27th May

 

Have just been reviewing online check-in details and although the SetSail Pass just states arrival at port between 11am-3pm a separate letter states our "invited" check-in time is 3pm (Deck 2 Outside Cabin).

 

Is this adhered to, we are staying in Southampton the night before so had planned to have breakfast and make our way to the port, would not be too happy if we are made to wait until 3pm. Wasn't expecting casually stroll up and board whenever we want but this seems far too restrictive, we depart Southampton at 4.30pm ?

 

Any advice appreciated

Trust me, it is not enforced. We are at the port by 10:30 or 11:00 no matter where we cruise out of. Yes, we wait for a bit. But normally on the ship before noon. Now I don't know about England, but in the US never an issue

The check in times are a way of RCCL to spread out the process. Just think of arrivals from an early flight. They would not be told to wait. Show up whenever and you'll be checked in.

RCI doesn't enforce times...they simply "suggest" a time to avoid crowds...so show up when you want to!

Thanks for the replies, funnily enough RCI replied and said we have to board at the stipulated time, didn't bother replying but surely they cannot expect all Deck 1 and Deck 2 to board after 3pm when the ship sets sail at 4.30pm.

Way different than our last Carnival out of Galveston. They were strictly enforcing the appointment times. But on Carnival you could pick your check in time.
