jmlh Posted June 23, 2017 #4 Share Posted June 23, 2017 We did this tour last February and had an excellent time. Personable & knowledgeable guide, great food tastings (you will not leave hungry!!) and a great walk around town. Was a really good day and we would highly recommend. Even got our taste of Key Lime pie.

JayRich65 Posted June 27, 2017 #6 Share Posted June 27, 2017 Here a quick do it yourself food tour (Lunchtime), 1) Con Leche - Five Brothers on Southard 2) Cuban Sandwich - either El Siboney or Margaret/Catherine or Sandy's on White St. 3) Conch Fritters - DJs Clam Shack on Duval 4) Key Lime Pie - Blue Heaven on Petronia 5) After dinner, Margarita's or Beer, just choose a bar on Duval

Have you been to the distillery? Blue Heaven and El Siboney are included in the tour. I will look up the others you suggest. We are unlikely to wander around eating and drinking on our own - we have our favorites, where we would just sit and eat and drink, but sometimes the group experience and some local knowledge are a change. JayRich65 Posted June 28, 2017 #8 Share Posted June 28, 2017 No, I have not been to the distillery. One I forgot, was Grabo's Grill on Caroline for some Shrimp Tacos or burger. It's actually a Gulfstream trailer behind a bar.

peter_krynicki Posted July 27, 2017 #10 Share Posted July 27, 2017 You can walk over to the new rum distillery at 201 Simonton Street... They do rum tastings (the dark is very nice on the rocks) and have a great gift shop. I was lucky enough to be invited to the ribbon cutting (by John Hemingway) Pjk

This is different to Key West Distilling, on Southard street?
peter_krynicki Posted July 28, 2017 #12 Share Posted July 28, 2017 Must be different. I'm not familiar with the http://keywestdistilling.com/ Pjk
brunello22 Posted August 1, 2017 #13 Share Posted August 1, 2017 If you're there in the evening, have dessert and drinks at Better Than Sex: http://www.betterthansexkeywest.com/
c-leg5 Posted August 1, 2017 Author #14 Share Posted August 1, 2017 If you're there in the evening, have dessert and drinks at Better Than Sex: http://www.betterthansexkeywest.com/ Thanks, looks like an interesting and different kind of place. Unfortunately we are not dessert people and we leave at 6pm so probably not useful to us but hopefully someone can benefit from the suggestion. c-leg5 Posted August 22, 2017 Author #16 Share Posted August 22, 2017 Has anyone done the Key West Foodie, Drink, and History tour? Is that the pirate one?
vplsh Posted August 23, 2017 #17 Share Posted August 23, 2017 Is that the pirate one? Yes, it is. Looks like they only do evening tours. We are in Key West on Christmas Day so I'm not sure there will be many tours running.
keywester33 Posted August 24, 2017 #18 Share Posted August 24, 2017 I just looked at the website. I don't think conch fritters, conch chowder and key lime pie are much of a "foodie" tour. It might be fun, but don't go for the food.
