Star Class - Booking a cabana question

Recommended Posts

Hi all

We will sailing once again on Allure this year in our favourite 2 bdrm ATS suite and the itinerary has us stopping at Labadee. My question is, we will want to book a cabana but not sure if we should do this on our own or our Genie will arrange to get us one.

Any thoughts/recommendations?

Cheers

Shawn

I have heard that some cabanas are reserved for star class and then opened up to other suites. I hope this is the case as they are not available for purchase through the cruise planner for my upcoming cruise.

If you are wanting to book a cabana at Barefoot Beach, your only choice is to book via genie or concierge. Those cannot be booked on Royal's website. I would expect the genie to do this for Star Class suites.

Your Genie will get it for you. They save the over the water and beach ones for Star Class. When he/she emails you, just let them know what you want. You still do have to pay for it.

When the genie contacted us with her questionaire ( what person in history would you like to have dinner with...etc.) we placed the request. She contacted us again to acknowledge the request. When we boarded the ship she had the cabana we asked for (OW1) on our schedule.

Thanks all. I will wait then and contact the Genie when the time comes. Can anyone recommend a nice cabana? Over water vs land? Over water worth the extra cost?

We liked the convenience to the water of the OW cabana.

You Genie will walk you off the ship when you are ready and escort you to the cabana area. You have access to floating mats and snorkeling gear. If you want to snorkel, do ask your cabana attendant for it as soon as you get there as they do run out. Cabana will also have a cooler with bottles of Evian in it. There is a ceiling fan and 1 or 2 power outlets.

The over the water (W1 was mine) one is very nice. You have a fan, a sofa, two lounge chairs, an umbrella, cooler of water, towels, beach mats, and masks and snorkels. We had 5 people and it worked out nicely if we all were in different places and not there at the same time. Next time we thought we would try to get B1 which is beachfront next to W1 so we can have the cabana and pull lounge chairs up next to it So we all can have one.

The Genie is amazing and will get you what you want. Have fun!

I haven't been to Labadee in, well, a very long time and will be there in September. On the Suite Beach area, is there any shade without getting a Cabana? I have no issues renting one, but, since I travel alone, I was thinking to just try this once without a Cabana - as I always had gotten one from NCL. However, I have to be very careful about the the sun so I'm really waffling on this.

Thanks!!

Yes, there is some shade in the suite area of the beach.

We have done OTW 1 and B1. While OTW1 was very nice and a little more private, it was also more expensive. I personally will probably not pay $495 for an OTW cabana again. I thought B1 was just as nice for less money (I can't recall at the moment what the price for the beach cabana was, but I know it was less than $495).

Star Class guests get first crack at the Barefoot Beach cabanas so if you know which one you want, let the Genie know as soon as you can. Both times I've been in Star Class I have gotten my first cabana choice. We are going in Star Class again in September (Harmony, 9-16) and I think we may skip the cabana altogether this time. It seems like all we really do is take a nice nap there !

Hilarious. Thanks for the advice. This will be our first time at Labadee. Will let the wife decide which one she wants as I too look forward to just take a nap while my kids frolic.

Cheers

Thanks. Will take a look at the map to see which one we prefer. This will be our second Star Class adventure.
