Rare BermudaBound2014 Posted August 8, 2017 Author #176 Share Posted August 8, 2017 Luckynana- I'm from the states so not an expert on London but based on my research the first question to ask is what airport do you fly from? Heathrow is very easy for paddington and Victoria. The next question is what are the train costs from Southampton? We looked at Waterloo, but the train to Waterloo was $59 and the train to Victoria was only $5. Since Victoria is also in a great location and easier to get to heathrow we elected Victoria. There is a best western and comfort inn near Victoria station. We ended up at premier inn for $125 per night. Hope that helps :) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Luckynana Posted August 8, 2017 #177 Share Posted August 8, 2017 Thank you, BermudaBound2014. We'll be flying out of Newark, so I'm guessing we'll be flying into Heathrow? Our cruise is at the end of September next year. We've never been to London before, it's on my bucket list! We'll be looking into transportation into London and then Southampton, but taking trains with luggage won't be an option for us. Hopefully we'll be able to hook up with fellow roll call peeps and hire a van to get from the airport to London. Still plenty of time for that, but I'll sure feel better once we have our hotel. You'll have to let me know how you like the premier Inn. The price you've got is terrific! Thanks for everything...Enjoy the rest of your cruise!😊 Sent from my SM-T350 using Forums mobile app

Rare KeithJenner Posted August 9, 2017 #179 Share Posted August 9, 2017 What dock is the Jade at in Southampton? Mayflower or QE2? It varies from cruise to cruise. You need to check the Southampton port website to find out for your particular cruise. Also check which dock you are returning to. It may not be the same. Callimero Posted August 9, 2017 #184 Share Posted August 9, 2017 ...It sails out of Southampton and I am wondering IF you can see the Cliffs of Dover at some point during the cruise---leaving or returning to Southampton? Yes, we saw the Cliffs of Dover yesterday evening from our Balcony starboard side. So if you're sailing out of/ or into Southampton you'll be able to see them, they're stunning... Rare BermudaBound2014 Posted August 10, 2017 Author #189 Share Posted August 10, 2017 Hello from sunny Southampton. We are staying with friends who couldn't be more gracious hosts. Spent yesterday in Portsmouth and today we are sailing the solent. I would have cried leaving the Jade yesterday except for the fact that we have an extra week here in England. In my 30 cruises, I do believe that the Jade may have been my all time favorite. Everything about the trip just fell into place perfectly. Our fellow passengers were a joy and the Jade is the perfect ship for Norway. I still have lots of menus and photos to post, but they may trickle in over the next week as we have quite the busy schedule here in the U.K. Safe travels to all, and for those who just boarded the Jade may your journey be rich with glorious memories! Ginger Pepper Mom Posted August 10, 2017 #190 Share Posted August 10, 2017 It's been great to read your posts and will be happy to see menus and more photos, hints and suggestions. Now we have exactly one year until we board the Jade for our Norwegian Fjords cruise ... leaving from Hamburg on August 12, 2018. Keep posting please!!! Hello from sunny Southampton. Been looking at areas that are walkable to some of main sites. Sent from my SM-G920V using Forums mobile app
Smileyman Posted August 13, 2017 #192 Share Posted August 13, 2017 I hope I am doing this post correctly; please excuse my lack of knowledge! Thank you so much for all the postings that have been done! We will be on the Jade next summer to do the fjords. It sails out of Southampton and I am wondering IF you can see the Cliffs of Dover at some point during the cruise---leaving or returning to Southampton??? Thank you for your reply or replies!!! If the ship sails between England and France you will see the white cliffs, on a good day it is possible to see France from England and vv. (unless it is night time of course!) You will also see the ferries that link England and France and possibly plenty of other shipping too, it's a very busy section of water. I sometimes see cruise ships in this area since I live close by.

Thanks for everything...Enjoy the rest of your cruise![emoji4] Sent from my SM-T350 using Forums mobile app The premier inn Victoria has been absolutely terrific. Far exceeded expectations. It is extremely close to Victoria station, and also very close to the coach station. The breakfast offered is amazing. Eggs (over easy or scrambled), bacon, sausage, pancakes, hash brown, and lots more in the hot bar. The cold section has every bread, crossiant, cinnamon roll, muffin, etc.. there are a buch of cerials, fresh fruit and juice, smoothies, and Greek yogurt with all the fixings for a parfait. Lovazza machine for delicious coffee. We ate breakfast which held us the entire day. Cost was 10.50 for all or 8.00 for just the cold bar. Room is smallish, but clean. Everyone from the concierge to the bartender have gone over and above. Highly recommend this accommodation, be sure to dig on the net for coupon codes. My one recommendation is that they get luggage racks. Those with an early flight out of Heathrow should make a note that the tube doesn't start early enough for a 9 am flight. We ended up purchasing coach tickets (10 pounds eAch). Coach leaves every hour on the hour from the national express coach station. It should be super easy as it is non stop to Heathrow with direct drop off at terminal 3. We had an awesome time sailing in Southampton last week with our most wonderful UK friends and are currently on day 2 of exploring London. Epic. Trip. Hey Tina Posted August 17, 2017 #195 Share Posted August 17, 2017 Really enjoyed this post, just checking back in see if you've arrived home from England and are able to give me some more information about the train from Amsterdam to Hamburg? Rare BermudaBound2014 Posted August 18, 2017 Author #196 Share Posted August 18, 2017 We're home safe and sound. What an epic trip that was. I'm having trouble keeping it all straight because we were traveling nearly an entire month. I can hardly remember Amsterdam at all, thank heaven for photographs. Tina- let me look at my notes and type up something specific for you. It was easy, but tricky. I'm grateful for all the terrific people who helped me before hand or I would have fudged thAt up. I never did post food porn so I think I'll start there. We had 4 speciality dinners and choose cagneys twice and lebistro twice. Here is our last nights dinner in lebistro. Oddly enough it was different than the start of the trip. My guess is they ran out of the good scallops and substituted these bay scallops Scallops from the beginning of the week. I may not have noticed but this my all time favorite dish from any of the speciality restaurants- I wanted to just order these as a main: Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Rare BermudaBound2014 Posted August 18, 2017 Author #198 Share Posted August 18, 2017 These are from cagneys the second to last evening. First time service wAs spot on- second time it was off (and we had the same server.) Unlike lebistro, the Food was consistent at cagneys. Rare BermudaBound2014 Posted August 18, 2017 Author #199 Share Posted August 18, 2017 Here are some rAndom photos from Osheehans late night. We were so bad at midnight eating, but the ability to have sit down, served, bar food 24 hours is one of the things we really enjoy on NCL. Rare BermudaBound2014 Posted August 18, 2017 Author #200 Share Posted August 18, 2017 I am a HUGE fan of aft balconies and have sailed in them many times, but we booked this trip late due to excellent pricing, so an aft wasn't in the cards. I absolutely love sitting in my balcony sipping wine during sail away. Thankfully, we worked around not having an aft. On the jade, the grand pacific has floor to ceiling windows (think a mini 270 on quantum class). We were able to enjoy sail away from table 51 each night. Warning though - you do need to be there at 5 exactly to secure an aft facing table. Lots of other people had the same idea as us. Since the ports were active for us, we skipped lunch so eating at 5 wOrked out fine.
