rugby6ft8 Posted August 5, 2017 #1 Share Posted August 5, 2017 Hello everyone. I have a quick question regarding hand luggage. We are sailing tomorrow from Southampton and returning to Southampton in two weeks. Are there any restrictions, apart from what's on P&O's prohibited items list, to what I can take in my hand luggage? I'm thinking liquids and in particular Prosecco and gin. :D:cool:
Slugsta Posted August 5, 2017 #2 Share Posted August 5, 2017 Any/all hand luggage has to fit through the X-Ray machines. Other than that (and, as you say, excluding things expressly prohibited by PandO), you can take anything you like - including your booze. I hope you have a wonderful cruise :)
rugby6ft8 Posted August 5, 2017 Author #3 Share Posted August 5, 2017 Thanks Slugsta for the quick reply. I'm going to fit it into a small 'carry on' case. I don't want anything smashing my Brecon Gin! I'm almost packed but it's the last few bits that require some thought x
Slugsta Posted August 5, 2017 #4 Share Posted August 5, 2017 Our attitude, when trying to decide whether to take item A or item B is to put them both in :D
wowzz Posted August 5, 2017 #5 Share Posted August 5, 2017 Don't forget a few tonics as well!
rugby6ft8 Posted August 5, 2017 Author #6 Share Posted August 5, 2017 I have three bottles of tonic, two Prosecco, two Asti's and my gin. That'll be enough for two week's I hope. I am also taking my own glasses.
wowzz Posted August 5, 2017 #7 Share Posted August 5, 2017 Have you got a stopper to keep the fizz in? Doesn't seem enough for more than a 2 day cruise!
Boatmans Lady Posted August 5, 2017 #8 Share Posted August 5, 2017 Have you got a stopper to keep the fizz in? Doesn't seem enough for more than a 2 day cruise! Just use a teaspoon. Put the handle end in the bottle and it will keep its fizz lovely. Don't ask me how it works, but work it does and I often thank the person who told me that little tip. wowzz Posted August 5, 2017 #9 Share Posted August 5, 2017 To be honest, once the bottle is open, there is no need for a stopper!
rugby6ft8 Posted August 5, 2017 Author #10 Share Posted August 5, 2017 (edited) lol I should have said, that is for the first two days at sea, not two weeks. We will restock in Portimao lol x Edited August 5, 2017 by rugby6ft8 meaning change
fastnloose Posted August 6, 2017 #11 Share Posted August 6, 2017 (edited) On our last cruise from Southampton, we placed all booze in a small case, ( bottle bacardi, box wine, several cans of coke, bottles of water) and then packed socks around and between items and placed luggage label on outside. Then sent it all to the cabin, it arrived safely in time for sailaway drink Edited August 6, 2017 by fastnloose spelling mistake
