missingcruzin Posted September 1, 2017 #1 Share Posted September 1, 2017 I've been reading about the upgrade system and lo and behold 80 days out and my email arrives. But is it really worth it? We're in a balcony mid ship deck 10. They are looking at $500pp for the Owner's suite and $300pp for a Forward or Aft extended balcony. Do you have yo bid at the "from" price or can you bid lower? Should I spend the $$ on dining and spending money? It's just the two of us and we were on the Sky last Nov with no issues, but I would love a bigger balcony. Insight? Thanks in advance!
bookbabe Posted September 1, 2017 #2 Share Posted September 1, 2017 I was in one of the Sky Owner's Suites over the Xmas holidays, and it was my best cruise ever. Huge room with separate bedroom. Huge balcony with private hot tub. All the suite perks like butler, concierge, reserved seating in the theatre, expedited (escorted) boarding and disembarking at each port. I'm going to have a hard time going back to a regular balcony room.
FranknBeans Posted September 1, 2017 #3 Share Posted September 1, 2017 We got an upgrade quite a few years ago to aft p/h and was able to negotiate for the next cruise because we were booked to do b2b. We loved the penthouse. But at the prices of all the suites today we just cant justify the price based on how much we are in the suite and we also don't like what we call interruption with the butler and concierge, as we just don;t use them. But I realize that this is just us.

I love the fact that the p/h would be more than double the space of the balcony room without having to pay full price may be worth it.
herdingdogmom Posted September 2, 2017 #5 Share Posted September 2, 2017 On our Sky cruise in July to Cuba the suites were sold out well before we booked and never opened up even though we received the bid upgrade offer. We thought our balcony cabin on deck 10 was great. Be sure to get starboard if you are doing the 4 day Cuba cruise.
