Tiggertastic Posted September 2, 2017 #3 Share Posted September 2, 2017 If you're in central Southampton by the port, holiday inn Herbert walker avenue will be right next to the ship. Premier inn west quay is also in walking distance in about 5 -10 minutes, comfy beds and next door t the shopping centre. The Novotel and Ibis are also close by. Rare chemmo Posted September 2, 2017 #4 Share Posted September 2, 2017 If you just want a night before the Holiday Inn is great. They do overnight stay, breakfast, parking and include the short taxi ride too. We have used this hotel and enjoyed. Nice to open your curtains in the morning and see the ship there waiting for you! If you can arrange a little more time some of the New Forest hotels offer cruise packages too. Great to have an English countryside break before setting off. We are doing this in a couple of weeks. We are driving down two days early, staying in a 15th Century Inn for two nights then we have booked parking at the dock. The two nights and parking have cost less than booking one night in one of the city centre hotels!?!
Pilgrim70 Posted September 2, 2017 #5 Share Posted September 2, 2017 We arrived two days early and stayed at the Holiday Inn. Had a rental car from Enterprise who will deliver you to the pier after car return. Hotel very near ship but you wouldn't want to walk with luggage. Hotel package with port drop off sounds good. Enjoyed walking the old walls of Southhampton. Sent from my iPad using Forums

By the time they've ordered your taxi, loaded your luggage and you've got in the car you could have walked to the cruise terminal. :')

For our Princess cruise, the ship was about a 10 minute taxi ride from the Holiday Inn. We might have walked it with no luggage, but not pulling heavy bags for a Transatlantic cruise. Taxi fare was very inexpensive and well worth the cost.
