MarkBearSF Posted September 28, 2017 #1 Share Posted September 28, 2017 No specifics on rollout plans for the brands. Not expecting to see it on Cunard anytime soon. I'm told this is the same service as RCI's VOOM. https://www.cruiseindustrynews.com/cruise-news/17867-carnival-corp-to-rollout-best-wifi-with-medallionnet.html

tv24 Posted September 29, 2017 #4 Share Posted September 29, 2017 Good news. Could not come a moment too soon on the QM2, but no breath has been held.
Wreckd Posted September 29, 2017 #5 Share Posted September 29, 2017 Great news. I wonder what the pricing structure will be and whether loyalty benefits will stay the same.
Chunky2219 Posted September 29, 2017 #6 Share Posted September 29, 2017 When it arrives I sincerley hope it's better than "Xcellerate" on Celebrity, otherwise known as Voom on the parent RCL. After a lot of hype I found it utterly rubbish, even when moored up in port. The login and account management was hopelessly flawed and once actually connected the on-board WiFi coverage and available bandwidth was dire. . BlueRiband Posted October 2, 2017 #7 Share Posted October 2, 2017 I'm typing this from the port wifi at Sept-Iles. Joined by some Cunard staffers. That says a lot.

MarkBearSF Posted October 3, 2017 Author #9 Share Posted October 3, 2017 When it arrives I sincerley hope it's better than "Xcellerate" on Celebrity, otherwise known as Voom on the parent RCL. After a lot of hype I found it utterly rubbish, even when moored up in port. The login and account management was hopelessly flawed and once actually connected the on-board WiFi coverage and available bandwidth was dire. Surprised to hear that. I've heard consistently good things about VOOM. And, I'm told that this is the same platform. Of course, login and authentication, while the most visible to cruisers - and often the most vexing, are a different area of the technology than the data transmission, itself. So, the potential for a great improvement is there. (Admittedly, it makes no difference what treasures are in the room if you can't get in the door.) Also, in-port has consistently been one of the worst locations for on-board connectivity in my experience - on many lines in many ports. Personally, I'm not super-hyped. I expect it will show up in about 3 years and, while an improvement, will still be an also-ran offering which is slow in comparison to my connectivity at home. But it will be better.
