I had a bad disembark with Mario on Serenade. Our first red tag. Not impressed.

Hum. Just the opposite for us. It took him several trips as everyone couldn’t fit in the elevator but walk off was fine for us. We meet in the CL.

We had our first suite experience on Radiance of the Seas earlier this year. Our concierge was JD (job done) sorry can't remember his full name. We did not receive a email from him and we certainly were very under impressed with the service we received. He seemed to have his favourite passengers and for some reason we were not one of them. On one occasion we stopped for a quick drink in the club at 4.30pm before we changed for formal night. My husband had dress shorts, polo shirt with collar and leather sandals. JD told him it was not appropriate dress so we left. After dressing up we went back and at 7pm a guest from the Royal suite was in the club in baggy jeans, basketball cap and sunglasses and JD was running around sending his staff to find the special brandy the guy requested. We loved our first suite experience and have booked a suite for an upcoming cruise on Explorer of the seas. Hope we get to experience a positive concierge experience next time.

I assume the jeans were not shorts. Shorts are not permitted on Formal nights.

What is a Basketball Cap?

if you check your bags at all you have to wait till its on the dock out of the way of fork lift drivers in a clear safe area so there will be 100s of people taking all of there own bags getting off first because they are routed around the bag area and out the door

I have stayed in a number of suites and I want to offer a different perspective to some of the other posts.

I don't make a lot of demands on the concierge but he or she is there if I need a problem resolved, require advice or get a booking for a venue which might otherwise be fully booked. It is usually easier and more convenient to go and see the concierge than standing in a line at guest services.

You get an email from the concierge a few days before your cruise. There have been occasions when we have eagerly waited for the email but not got one. It lists perks and provides essential contact details. If there is something you want arranging or resolving before you go on board then replying to the email is the best way of making contact. Personally it is not worth worrying about if you don't get an email.

Some concierges have a stronger presence than others. Some you will only see behind their desk in the lounge at assigned hours. Others you will find greeting you around the ship and getting to know you whenever you happen to be in the suite/concierge lounge.

A number have pointed out problems with disembarkation. Part of the problem is communication. The concierge doesn't always do a good job of informing suite passengers of options for disembarkation. You have a choice, get off the ship by yourself and at your convenience or be escorted off at designated times. If you are in a hurry to get off then it is worth having a chat with the concierge and then making your plans accordingly. The convenience of being escorted off has all to do with navigating around crowds and taking short cuts. That is going to do with the port and how smooth the disembarkation process is for all passengers. We have experienced, good, bad and the ugly.

The concierge may also organise special events. We have in the past received an invite for behind scenes tour, a VIP brunch experience plus there is usually some kind of meet and greet event where you meet the officers. You will usually get invites for these in your cabin.

We have found the suite experience different and superior in Oasis class ships than others. All of our suite experiences have been great but we have generally not found the need to trouble the concierge much.

Thank you for your insight! This is how I see myself..."needing very little assistance", but nice to know who to go to if I do. Thanks again for sharing your experiences.

I know for a fact it was a lie, what happened was someone decided that the 1st few groups should go before suites, because of early flights, they never asked time of the flights for suites, it sure it was not his decision but he should not have lied about reason, we were sitting on lounge watching hundreds go ahead of us.

Are you sure that the groups you're talking about aren't just the ones who are personally carrying all their luggage? They always go before the suites, or any of the other groups. Those hundreds always go ahead of everyone else who checked their bags. The suites went exactly when we were scheduled. As to early flights, if you book an early flight, it's your responsibility to let someone know if you need to get off earlier than you ordinarily would.

Nope it was 2 or 3 groups that did not carry there luggage, I am pretty fimiliar with this process after five suite cruises and four of them in Galveston, again, Rccl admitted this happened, I questioned if this was still a suite perk, and they said it was
