gardenbunny Posted April 9, 2018 #51 Share Posted April 9, 2018 It still raises my blood pressure just to think about the insulting concept that I encountered on the CB and thatPrincess thought their passengers would except such a obvious money saving/ use left overs type venue ... Of course all those who have never sailed on any other Princess ship, or never really used the HC before would even know the difference (IMO this was Princess's hope) I promised myself, after my initial report last May on the CB in Europe that I would not be one of the type CC posters who continuously harps on the same dislike over and over.. So use the search function for last May and June for "Market Place" and you'll find plenty of descriptions and reviews Lastly, I'm sure or at least I hope, if Princess hasn't already, that with all the complaints they must of received all season in Europe, that they have at least, when it comes to the menu's reverted a bit back to what frequent North American cruisers have come to expect on a Princess cruise - AKA less peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for diner and more traditional dinning fare . YMMV Srpilo I am so hoping that your post saying that concept for HC has truly been cancelled for other ships. I, like you stated, never complained about food on Princess at all. But after the Brtish Isles trip in August 2017, I wrote my first scathing review on the Princess survey about the Fresh Market design. I never found anything I wanted to eat. Selections were horrible. We tried the other fee restaurants and were not impressed. And who needs a ramen noodle bar every day. Was just off Crown to ABC islands and food was wonderful. So nice to be back with something familiar on the buffet. I even made another comment on survey praising the traditional HC and hoping they would not change it to the other concept! I understand wanting to offer new things, but never mess with the food (other than some occassional menu offerings).
kendon Posted April 9, 2018 #52 Share Posted April 9, 2018 AGREE, looks trashy, starting to downgrade and look like several of the mainstream cruise lines The hull design is terrible! Take a look at the Viking Sea...stunning ship! Plain white with blue accents. I realize it's a very premium line, but no need for Princess to look lower end. Hope the future ships do not have that decal.

Hope the future ships do not have that decal. As part of the Carnival Corporation, Princess is trying to unify the image across the ships. These things, of course, are a matter of taste, but I happen to like the Sea Witch decal on the Princess ships. I think NCL takes the hull design too far, but it's nothing compared to Aida. As for comparing Princess to Viking, these are apples and oranges. The price point, what's included, types of entertainment, itineraries, and demographics aren't similar at all. Viking has 4 ships; Princess, 17. All in all, I would say that Princess is closer to Carnival than Viking is to Princess, but that's just my opinion. Janbcruiser Posted April 9, 2018 #54 Share Posted April 9, 2018 For me, the changes sound wonderful! I have cruised on several lines, and always come back to Princess. I am all for food cooked by someone else, and am thrilled to have someone else do the dishes! There are so many choices, I can’t imagine not being able to find something good to eat, and I have many allergies and sensitivities. My suggestion would be if you are so unhappy with Princess, why not try some other cruislines that might be more to your liking? Everyone deserves to be happy on a cruise! I've seen it in person on the Royal and keeping with just the Blue it works quite well. I suspect having Donald or Mickey visible on a Disney ship diminishes it's quality for you too? If so, to each their own.
