3 night dining plan question

If we purchase the 3 night dining package can we book any specialty restaurants with the cruise planner on the website or do we have to wait until we are onboard to book anything.

 

Reading the description online in sounds like they pick the restaurant for the first night and you have to wait until onboard to book the other 2 nights.

You can change the first nights reservation subject to availability.

 

I’ve never had a problem getting the restaurants and times that I want when making all the reservations just after boarding.

Not really worrying about the first night. My only concern is we are a party of 9. Never had a group of more than 4 people so a little concerned if they'd be able to accommodate a group of 9 at decent times as we have a couple of kids so don't want to eat late.

Any specialty restaurant, but I'd go to the one in which you would like to dine first.
