MDR Surcharge for Specialty Entree etc. Rant

We cruised recently with RCI in a suite and never had an envelope appear on the last night asking for an additional tip. I wonder if that was just a one time sceario with a bad cabin steward?

The Head Waiters/Maitre'D, do their little thing on the side in the MDR, cooking the pasta, once or twice on a cruise.:p

 

They do that almost daily for the Club Class guests. Once or twice during the cruise they also offer it to all MDR guests.

I think the MDR food will continue to decline as a cost cutting measure as long as passengers allow it. When we vote with our feet by cruising elsewhere they might rethink.

 

Passengers did "vote" for this by being willing to pay extra to eat in the specialty restaurants when they were first introduced. They could have voted not to eat in those venues, but by paying to eat there told the cruise lines that it is OK to reduce the quality of main dining room food and then charge to have that quality in an alternative setting.

Bingo!! Aren't cruise passengers so gullible??
