hmmerr01 Posted March 28, 2018 #1 Share Posted March 28, 2018 I am really baffled... I am looking for a great catamaran snorkel excursion and am truly coming up empty. We did a wonderful one in Barbados last year but I can't find one in these islands? Most of them seem to be beach snorkeling and we'd like to snorkel a reef of some sort. Does anyone have first hand experience of any catamaran trips (ship or otherwise) that they'd recommend? Thank you!
George C Posted March 28, 2018 #2 Share Posted March 28, 2018 St John, short ferry from St Thomas has a great beach Trunk bay that has a snorking trail
Clarea Posted March 28, 2018 #3 Share Posted March 28, 2018 Not a catamaran, but a sailboat snorkel in St. Thomas. It was limited to 6 people and was a ship excursion. Not sure if this is still offered.
5soonerfans Posted March 28, 2018 #4 Share Posted March 28, 2018 We went with St. Thomas Scuba and Snorkel. It was only our group of five. They were great and would definitely use them again.
runawaysoul Posted March 28, 2018 #5 Share Posted March 28, 2018 I second this. More than likely I'll be using St. Thomas to hop the ferry to St. John. St. John is amazing! hmmerr01 Posted March 28, 2018 Author #6 Share Posted March 28, 2018 I appreciate the comments on St. John. We were considering this. We do really want to do a catamaran sail/snorkel as we love boats. Would prefer something non-private. Any ideas?
BlueSkySailing Posted March 28, 2018 #7 Share Posted March 28, 2018 Stuart Cove in Nassau does a outstanding job getting you out to nice reefs. I've done it 3 times now. I booked them myself. Their main office is in Miami so it's a US base business. Happy Sailing!!!

We used them too and had a brilliant day! Btw - i’ve Snorkeled at each of these spots and St. Thomas had the most diverse coral and sea life I saw the entire cruise. Jasukkie Posted March 28, 2018 #9 Share Posted March 28, 2018 We did the ship's catamaran snorkel excursion in Nassau and enjoyed it very much. It was to a reef, and included rum punch on the way back.

Snow cat Posted March 29, 2018 #11 Share Posted March 29, 2018 We went on ship sponsored catamaran tour in St Thomas (Castaway Girl) and had a great time; and also in St Maarten (Golden Eagle). Both were tons of fun, and had a couple of stops each. It was in February of this year; the water was a bit clearer in St. Thomas the day we were there, but I am sure that could change when you visit. I would do both of these excursions again when we return to these ports.

We went on a snorkel trip on St. Maarten earlier this month, and saw 0 fish, nothing while snorkeling!
OCruisers Posted March 29, 2018 #13 Share Posted March 29, 2018 On your St. Thomas go over to St. John. ;);)
