**Live** Grandure of the Seas 4/14/18

Recommended Posts

Dinner at Chops was so-so. My ribeye came out over cooked. I ordered it medium rare and it came out medium well. Now this is a big beautiful beautiful steak and I hated for anything bad to happen to it. I asked the lady who is our waitress what she thought and she called it medium well also and said she was taking it back and getting me a medium rare. The next state came out medium well also. I showed her but I was in no way going to let that much steak go to waste so I ate it. Also had these bad images of a chef spitting on my food. Now before somebody chimes in at me, I know this would not happen at chops.

Toward the end of the mail another gentleman came by not real sure what he does and asked about the steak. I told him it was quite overdone but had a good flavor. He mentioned that it was medium well ( as the part I couldn't eat was left on the plate, this is a big steak) and I told him that I had ordered it medium rare. He mentioned that I should have sent it back. I explained that I had sent it back that this was the second one and I was not letting this much they go to waste. He asked what he could do for me to make it up and I told him nothing, it wasn't that big of a deal. I must admit the one he asked if there was anything he could get for me I wanted to ask him if he had any dental floss, but I'm afraid my mom across the table might have smacked me upside the head. Nah, she would have laughed.

Later that same gentleman came back and offered me a free lunch at chops. so tomorrow we're having lunch at chops. Will report on that tomorrow.

Before I forget, if anyone thinks they might like a salad with goat cheese in it, you got to get the one at chops. it was the best part of my meal. Fantastic. Oh and the cheese cake and red velvet cake me and mom thought were pretty good too.

Well, off to the casino.

Had a good time at the casino last night. Same old same old, neither of us lost or won more than we were okay with.

We went and saw The Three Las Vegas Tenors last night and they were definitely worth the time to watch. Not just Opera like some people might think sang multiple different kinds of music. Would have loved some country music put in there but unfortunately none of that.

Slept soundly last night.

Had breakfast in the main dining room and it was good. I had apricot pancakes and Mom had some waffles that had chocolate and caramel with them, I think the pancakes were better than the waffles.

And after that you can guess where we went ........ the casino. They were having $3 blackjack tables and I enjoyed it very much. Mom didn't have as much luck at the slots today, she lost what she had won yesterday.

We stayed there quite a while until it was time for lunch. Had lunch at chops as we had been offered the one free meal because my meal yesterday wasn't that great. Ended up they comped both meals. I'm going to try to add in some pictures of what I had eaten, but as you will see I never took the time to get my phone out before I was halfway through a coarse.

I don't really think they can call the shrimp a shrimp when it's the size that I received. The filet was very good and extremely tender. The dessert was to die for, warm chocolate cake with a side of ice cream and strawberry compote. May have been the favorite thing I've ever had on a cruise. I don't remember what I've told you about myself but I have been on about 18 cruises. I can't say enough about this desert.

Book The Shore Excursion for St Lucia. It's called Coastal Cruise to the Pitons. Very much looking forward to this. The cost was $74 each. We talked to the people at the shore Excursion desk and they made it sound like Mom should have no problem. Really hoping the right.

Mom went down to the room to put her knee up and I walked around on the pool deck which is pretty full and very windy. There's a live band playing reggae music which is very good.5491996441a7dbc1007e9253f4a291dc.jpg87ec894e77a5aa769ff401b46afb45f9.jpga2aa0230c903066232c9bcc01f4fd077.jpg606d089cf4c24fcfc1a0ec4ff730e6c7.jpg28b29a6685283043edf8046dae0ec7c4.jpg

Remember a dinner or lunch if you get a dessert that milk sounds good with you can ask and they will briing you some.

Remember to get a picture of the towel animal tonight.

Just an update on the room, so far it's being kept really clean. Not feeling too small. The shower is small. There is no fridge if anyone was wondering. There is a safe that's about big enough for a few wallets your passports medicine and you're done. You lock it by putting in for numbers and unlock it by entering the same four numbers.

Tonight was the first Broadway show and although we enjoyed it we have to say the shows on Carnival were better. Maybe an isolated occurrence and this is just our opinion. After the show, one of the main singers was walking around dressed up like Elvis for 50s 60s night. My mom commented that Elvis never had a beard, as she net notice him as the main singer. I told her who he was and then she understood.

We went through the shops today and didn't see anything that we felt we needed or was at such a great deal that we should get. I plan on trying to find a cheap watch at one of the 1st ports as I'm tired of asking everybody what time it is. You got to remember there's no clocks in the casino.

Plan for tomorrow is some pool time.f17d6cad0294159f87b6fef67ada96bf.jpg

May seem pretty boring too many of you, but we're having a pretty good time

Don't apologize for enjoying what you like to do. We like to sit on the stern and read and watch the wake, which you might find boring. I am enjoying hearing all of your experiences. Continue to have fun, and if you hit it big in the casino....remember me.:D

Finally we got a chair and off we go to the ship. Now wait now, we are anytime dining so they put us in a separate line. They want us to book what time we're going to eat tonight 🤤.

I don't know what's going on tonight how am I supposed to figure out what time we want to eat ...... but we found out the shows at 8:15 so we book dinner at 5. Should be fine

This is . . . weird. Can one just skip this line/part? We're going to be travelling with two toddlers and will almost certainly be sticking to the WJ the first night.

When we traveled in July on Grandeur, we got stuck in that line also. We had My Time Dining and had reserved the days and times we wanted but planned the WJ the first night. I think they wanted to upsell specialty. I waited in line and made no changes to the already made plan.

Ugh. The whole reason why we chose My Time Dining was so we could figure it out day/hour/minute of, not so we could delay our boarding and get badgered into picking a time. We had a similar experience on NCL; loved the concept of Freestyle Dining, hated the fact that most of the specialties were booked up before we set sail.

Following your live review, great job. Wish I was there , 2 of my bff's Rose and Mike are on the cruise with you.

I tried to track the ship today I thought you were going into St. Thomas but couldn't find the ship anywhere.

Sorry the shows aren't that great, I find the smaller ships tend to have just okay shows, the bigger ships have the big productions.

Well enjoy the rest of your cruise I'm there in spirit with you all in the casino of course, lol.

Don't get me wrong we enjoyed the show, just not as much as on some other cruises. Pretty much one's taste. We do think the Orchestra was really good and plan to go see on in their show tonight. And then later tonight is the comedian at 10:15 or 10:30 so it's an adult show but we plan on being there.

I think you can skip the line, just tell him you don't want to be in it. We didn't figure this out quick till we were the next in line so we stayed where we were. We booked our first night time because we had heard that the first night is a mess. At first night's dinner we went ahead and booked 5 for the rest of the cruise and we're told any day we needed to change it we can make that change

Just got back from the art auction. We showed up really really late. There was some pretty art. But nothing that I would put a bit on at this point in my life. Did I mention I'm kind of cheap ☺

Oh by the way, the whole Skyping thing has worked out really well for us. I set up a time at 4:30 each evening for me and my son to get on. No problems with the connection. I can see and hear him plainly when I'm in my room on second floor. Great way to keep in touch

This is a new one for me. Since I'm new to Royal Caribbean, I wanted to see what a past guest rate difference there was. He's quite a line. I've been waiting about 10 minutes and looks like I probably have another 10 to 30 minutes to go. This is eating into my Casino time [emoji854]. Below is what I hope is the video of the two gentlemen playing in the Centrum as I'm waiting.a0786b764025793b0ea419ad17ffd9a7.jpg

Had a nice dinner this evening. The sugar-free dessert was excellent. If it didn't say sugar-free I would have never believed it.

Went and saw the orchestra play and they were pretty good.

Went to see the comedian, Don Barnhart, and laughed till we cried. It was the adult version, and watching the gentleman doing sign language for the hearing impaired made the show. Or I guess I should say he stole the show. The comedian couldn't stop laughing himself. I think I'll leave that at that.

After the comedy show mom decided to go on to bed and I decided to go back to the casino. For once I came out on top. I even won enough to where I had to split with Mom, and that felt nice. We set an amount that if either of us wins over we split that amount. So probably now I would say I'm about even. Only worry is I've now been hooked on a new game in the casino. I think it's called three card poker. I know I could lose my shirt really quick playing this game and we'll have to be careful not to ever go over my limit for the day.

Tomorrow we stop in St Thomas, and don't really have much planned. I guess we will try to be up in time to watch as the ship pulls in. Will probably get off the ship and take a water taxi over to town. Don't plan on staying too long as we don't want to get too tired for our next day. Will most likely shop for no more than an hour I would guess but one never knows.

Yeah, that was supposed to be a picture of my speedtest. I have no idea why it didn't post properly. I'll work on it.

But I have found the internet connection to be very strong. I easily streamed several TV shows last night with no problem.

Oh my gosh[emoji21][emoji44][emoji32][emoji22] I don't think this lady will ever shut up. She is droning on and on about trivial things. Think we will be leaving before the door prizes. Been here over an hour and she is still on stores in St Thomas and that is our first stop.

Love Jane, the shore shopping woman. Can tell you almost anything about shopping in the islands. Yes St Thomas has more shopping then the other islands. And for that I really don't like St Thomas, however there is a shop in St Thomas that sell table cloths and table runners and such....love that place. Have a great trip. I would say ask for Romar in MTD but I think he is still on his holiday.

Don't know how to do this, but I can tell you was Skyping there's been no problem. It's just very comforting to be able to talk to my family everyday and I know my son feels better being able to see his mama every day.
