Live from Journey 17 June

The four of us just returned from a wonderful 10 day Lisbon to London cruise. Will post a review when I get back to New York time. But in the mean time thanks to all the Cruise Critic contributors for your suggestions. They helped make for a great time. Also thanks for for the Journey's crew. Wow, they go out of their way to make sure that everything goes smoothly. Bill, Sharon, Elise & Emily

We’ve just returned from a ship visit to Silver Wind that was moored alongside HMS Belfast, we were surprised that it is no longer possible to board ships moored there via HMS Belfast and now have to catch a clipper from the pier next to the Tower of London. We then climbed a steep ramp up to the deck of the Belfast and walked along to another walkway onto the Wind. All other parts of the Belfast were screened off. This was OK for the able bodied amongst us, but was very difficult for those with mobility issues. Also the arrangement for guests collecting their luggage on departure was far inferior to the tent used at Greenwich for Azamara. Luckily it was hot and dry!.

It doesn't look so bad at high tide from the other side of the river . . . see attached photo.

 

If you arrive at or after check in time you should not have any big problem, as disembarking passengers will have all departed.

 

There will be a short distance to walk from taxi drop off to the bag tent and another short distance to queue for the very spacious tender which will take you to the immigration barge attached to the ship (seen in the first photo at low tide).

From there up steps and on to the Cabaret for Azamara processing, then on to lunch or afternoon tea.

 

Doing back to back cruises I had no difficulty either leaving or returning to the ship both morning and afternoon. I found dockside staff well organised, as were those on the local tender boat.

 

Enjoy your cruise and if you have time beforehand, do explore Greenwich.
