SeaWatcher65 Posted September 12, 2018 #2 Share Posted September 12, 2018 (edited) we are looking for a beach close to port to spend a couple of hours swimming. Do not want to spend a lot on a taxi for just a swim. Never been to Antigua but talked with a friend who has been there, and lives there. I understand there are taxis that can take you to any of several beaches. My friend recommended Dickenson Bay 15 minutes away. $24 round trip or less if shared. Plenty to do there too. We plan to go to a beach farther away or take a tour. But Dickenson Bay looks like it has everything -- sand, swimming, beach restaurants (Ana's, Coconut Grove), water sports to rent (search for Tony's Watersports), drinks, etc. Edited September 12, 2018 by SeaWatcher65

Tell her you were recommended by the Conch Fritter Guy and she will do something special for you. Here is our youtube video of our time at Beach Limerz in November, 2018. PelicanLvr Posted January 31, 2019 #6 Share Posted January 31, 2019 Runaway Bay is right near Dickenson Bay but less crowded. No water sports at Runaway, but a beach bar and chairs if you want that. Beyond that beach bar scene, is a lovely empty beach. Good swimming and walking beach. Taxi fare was about $7 p/p each way.

"Lovely, empty beach" with a beach bar and chairs sounds exactly like what I'm looking for. Thank you!
