SUSANITA Posted April 2, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 2, 2004 The rate on my Sensation cruise dropped recently, plus I got a NY State residency rate and a fall/winter promo rate. Take off the ports and taxes, and the cruise fare is around $37 per day. That is incredible!! Makes me wish I lived in FL to avoid the airfare, hotel, etc..., which is now costing me lots more than the actual cruise! Suep366394@aol.com NEXT UP~SENSATION 5/6/04! MARINER~ 9/19! luvbugwinkle Posted April 2, 2004 #3 Share Posted April 2, 2004 That's GREAT Don't want to sound kinda nuts. But what's a NY state residency rate? Do you mean if I lived in NY I could cruise most cost efficently than living in MD?! How can I find out if MD has a rate plan?! THANKS
SUSANITA Posted April 2, 2004 Author #4 Share Posted April 2, 2004 Well, I know that Carnival offers "residency rate" to certain states. You can call Carnival and ask them if your state qualifies. Basically, it's an additional discount, but only on certain sailings. Suep366394@aol.com NEXT UP~SENSATION 5/6/04! MARINER~ 9/19! judyf Posted April 2, 2004 #5 Share Posted April 2, 2004 I live in NY and never heard of this discount. I will need to check into this next cruise. Did you book with Carnival or online? SUSANITA Posted April 2, 2004 Author #6 Share Posted April 2, 2004 I booked with my new TA, whom I love to death. I called Carnival to see if they had any promos going for that sailing, just out of curiosity, and they did. So, I called my TA and she obviously gave me the promo rate. Rare Tom-n-Cheryl Posted April 2, 2004 #7 Share Posted April 2, 2004 That's great! Our best (cheapest) rate (military) so far was also on the Sensation. Including port fees and taxes (because that is the true cost - forget drinking and gambling expenses ...LOL) it was $199 for 4 days (so just under $50/day)... any time I can get on a ship for under $100/day I am happy... heck, any time I get on a ship I am happy Tom Spring break Glory with the boys. robbyxoxo Posted April 3, 2004 #17 Share Posted April 3, 2004 after a winter where it seemed the prices had creeped up a lil, the past couple weeks ive noticed some great bargains popping up once again....the Paradise for the end of april goin for well below $400 including port...also receive a $100 best buy gift card if booked with a certain travel agency...the elation is still constantly showing rates for the mid to low $300s including port.....and have seen the Glory for $400 including port, and thats a price u rarely see anymore for either the Glory or the Conquest...Carnival is hoping for the economy to continue to improve so that they can then increase rates inch by inch without losing passengers...i personally, am hoping that the record high personal debt level that americans be holding is enough to keep the economy dampened for years to come ....not allowing prices to rise back to the days of old.....can u just imagine, if they remove the tax cuts of last year, oil prices stay high, and economy slips back into recession, and terrorism fears kick back up, along with the increased capacity of all the new ships coming out....we could be seeing low rates on cruises that would make us smile, and carnival frown.......life would be good... SUSANITA Posted April 3, 2004 Author #18 Share Posted April 3, 2004 Robby, the strange twist here is that by me booking another cruise, I'm totally keeping myself (and hubby!) in debt, which in turn will help keep cruise rates low! Glad to know I'm doing my part to keep cruise prices low for all of you! Now, go book some cruises on your credit card so rates on my next cruise drop!! Suep366394@aol.com NEXT UP~SENSATION 5/6/04!
