ncl air and amsterdam hotel hotel

I would ask on the NCL board. Generally hotel packages are more expensive...you can almost always do better on your own.

Cruise line air fares can be good at certain times, like one way trans Atlantic. They can be good at other times as well...you just have to do the research to find out.

What exact dates are you looking at flying, and what do you consider 'very high'? Running a broad search on ITA Matrix, I'm seeing airfares in the $800-900 range for your general dates, which is pretty good for TA flights in the summer.

Not sure what you consider high.  Booking air is complicated, and it takes much effort to find the right combination to purchase.  You are booking from two different cities.  You can either book two one way tickets, or an open jaw ticket.  (open jaw is when you book two cities on one ticket with a space in the middle).  NCL like many cruise lines have an travel company to book flights for you.  Contact them to find out.  Many times it is cheaper, but not always.  So you need to shop all your options and than pick the one for you.

Amsterdam is awesome for hotels.  Every price range possible, with public transportation easy.  Pick a hotel near Central Station, and you can go any place in Amsterdam easily on a tram.  The cruise docks are than really close to Central Station.

Even if you book your flights through the cruise line, I would urge you not to book your hotel through it. Do a search of prices and reviews - there are so many great options in AMS. I usually stay at the Doubletree Amsterdam Centraal which is very convenient to attractions and the Centraal station, which provides a quick ride to/from the airport.
