possum52 Posted November 2, 2018 #91 Share Posted November 2, 2018 What a shame you didn't get into Luganville John, we missed there last year due to a medical emergency out from Sydney and we went to Mare instead. Enjoy your sea days home! Hope the weather is kind for you. Leigh
Rare MicCanberra Posted November 3, 2018 #92 Share Posted November 3, 2018 It is a shame but then tendering in high winds would be very unpleasant.

Luganville is a docked port but we had 38knot sustained winds as we as were trying to get alongside so captain and pilot decided it was too iffy to try again so we just turned around and headed out anyway another sea day which is ok with me regards john Edited November 3, 2018 by VK3DQ

I suppose if the wind is coming from the wrong direction, the captains don't want to take any risks in damaging the ship or wharf and / or injury to persons. I like sea days as well. It’s got me puzzled where we are going to spend the time, I’m hoping they might go out to the Nor West tip before heading across, can’t recall ever taking much over 12 hours from Burnie or Devonport to Melbourne or the other way, but we leave Burnie 9:00 pm on Sunday arrive Melbourne 9:00 am Tuesday. i keep looking for another change in itinerary but it doesn’t seem to happen. Perhaps they are just providing a sea day due to the Melbourne wharf being tied up.
