I hate the avatars

Is there a way to block the avatars from my view?   Or could you consider not allowing animated ones?

At this time blocking avatars is not an option.  It's been posted by others to have such a feature added to the new forum, but no word as to whether it will happen.

So far the only animated one that I've seen is the one that looks like a gnat running around and it gets me every time - I think there is a gnat on my screen. I suspect as long as GIF's are allowed, there will be somebody with an animated GIF avatar.
