NY arrival

Have cruised probably 10 times out of NY cruise terminal. Have always arrived by 6:00 or 7:00 AM. Leaving on the Gem on Monday and the itinerary says 10:00 AM arrival on return. Need to book ground transportation has anyone ever had that late arrival without an unplanned impact effecting it?

Our luck with disembarkation has yet to run out either, but we've been in a # of embarkation out of MCT with the in-bound NCL ships being delayed, for a variety of reasons.  Most recently, the Sunday morning after the infamous Breakaway N.O. repo when it was more than 12 hours late docking.  Our Escape's arrival was delayed and robo-NCL calls advised passengers to not arrive earlier than 12 noon for check-in.

We changed our car service pick-up time leaving home to the ship but managed to get there, still early & there're still 1,000+ passengers onboard at 11:30 AM, watching them step off the gangways while sitting in our lounge on the pier, which soon ran of the space in the entire terminal.

Why not relax & be comfortable without rushing off among the herd, can you book & re-confirm your car service to go back to norther NJ on the morning of arrival ?   Even as the ship sailed under the VZ Bridge and just about everyone get a cellular signal from one's home carrier, it is - at least another 90+ minutes to 2 hours before anyone ... including Express Walkoff - can start leaving.  By then, you will have a much firmer & definitive idea of whether timing should mostly worked out or not ... strong wind, river current, tides, harbor closure, etc. that's often difficult to anticipated and unplanned for.

Yes - that infamous Breakway return to NYC was scheduled for 9am/disembark 10am before it was delayed multiple times until 9pm that night.  It was coming from Tortola, departing 1pm 2 days prior, and needed all those hours to get to NYC and the pier - it could not have made by 6am as usual without skipping that port day or having a port in the Bahamas/Florida instead.
