Nieuw Amsterdam vs Nieuw Statendam

Same itinerary, same price.  Which one would you pick?   One thing I know is Nieuw Amsterdam has a nice big promenade, right?

yes it does  and enough chairs to enjoy it

from what i have read NS has about 700 more passengers

we did NA twice this year and loved it....

you can't go wrong with either

If you want traditional HAL choose N.A.   If you want a ship more like Celebrity choose N.S.

I’d vote for trying the newest ship!  We were hesitant on going on the Koningsdam but loved her and are glad we went.

I loved the Nieuw Amsterdam.  Why?  Her decor and the elevators with the exterior views which are both going to be different (decor) and absent (the elevators) on the Nieuw Statendam.  Do I anticipate enjoying my upcoming cruises on the new build?  Most certainly!

 

I expect the decor to remind me of my Celebrity Eclipse cruise, which was acceptable, to me.  I also expect the Holland America Line on-board experience that I have enjoyed in the past will remain.  And, dare I hope, even be augmented because of being a guest on her early cruises.
