Changing ships in Fort Lauderdale

Hi .. Anyone got any experience of changing cruise lines in Fort Lauderdale.  We have two weeks on Regal Princess and follow with a week on Holland America Nieuw Statendam.  Wondering how difficult it is to get a taxi from one cruise terminal to another ... too far to walk with luggage.

This is discussed almost daily on the Florida Departures board, here:

It is possible to walk between several of the Terminals, but not all. Taxi is a choice...be prepared to pay generously, as most cabs won't want to be taking a short ride like this.

Agree with CruiserBruce...taxi is the easiest/best...but since taxis have to wait in line...they prefer not to just drive around PE, Port Everglades...but they'll be glad to take your generous fare.

Your other options:

1.  We've actually walked ONCE from one terminal to the other.  From the Allure of the Seas to the Celebrity Solstice.  At the end of the Allure sailing, we went up the top deck and saw that the Solstice was at the next terminal....wooweeee.  We had easy rolling luggages and had an easy walk.  Disclosure: Port Everglades is not designed for walking but in our case it was just the next terminal.  We wouldn't recommend it otherwise.

2.  If you ask, you may be able to find a shuttle that goes around the terminal.  Disclosure: This is mainly for the crew but we were happily welcomed to use it.

3.  You could take the rental car shuttles.  You may not be able to do this now because the drivers will often ask if you have a copy of your rental reservation...they are getting smart.  But for fun, you can simply say you don't have a copy, take the shuttle to the rental car office, get off, and get back on the next shuttle, and get off your next ship...easy peasy.

4.  Not sure with Princess, but Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, and Azamara (same company) provides a shuttle between ships.  It doesn't hurt to ask guest services at Princess if they have any free shuttles around PE.

5.  Lastly, there are shuttles that will take you from your ship to the PE parking garage/building.  We have taken this shuttle a couple of times and simply/politely asked the shuttle driver if he can stop us at (we went from the Independence of the Seas to Royal Princess) our next ship.  A generous tip always helps.

Good luck and happy sailing! 😁
