Length of Entertainment Shows?

Taking our first Princess cruise, in Alaska this summer. Wondering how long the entertainment shows typically last. 30, 60, 90 minutes? I’ve looked at some Patters and have noticed there are 2 hours in between shows (typically 7:30pm and 9:30pm). Just thinking about needing to get enough sleep for waking up early the next morning for an excursion. Thanks for your help!

I am surprised at the answers to the original question. The OP refers to evening shows but I am not sure if this means 'production shows' or guest entertainers. It is several years since we saw a production show on Princess that was 45 minutes long. They cut them back to 30-35 minutes about five years ago for the American-based ships then followed with the Australian ships (the first one being on the Sea Princess). With the shorter format there were supposed to be three shows each night, but on the Australian ships, it was only ever two. It is good news if the American-based ships have reverted to 45 minute shows. I would appreciate comments on this.

The guest entertainers' shows originally were 45 minutes. They were cut back to 30 minutes but it didn't work well so they quickly went back to 45 minutes.

They cut them back to 30 minutes when they tried the 3 show format about 5 years back.  However for the last few years they have returned to the 2 shows per night and have gone back to the 45 minutes for both the production shows and the guest performers.  There is one special production show, the one that includes a guest vocalist, that tends to run an hour.

The two with the guest vocalists (Bravo and Encore) have been longer than the others, but they have kept the production shows on the Australian ships to 30 minutes or maybe 35 minutes. We only ever had two shows a night. The excuse used for the shorter shows was that "they have to be the same as on the American ships because the cast learns that show." It will be interesting to see if we get the longer versions again.

I was on the Caribbean Princess last January and the shows were 45 minutes.

Tony

That is good new from you and from RDC1. Thanks. We were on several cruises in 2018 and the shows were the shorter versions, except for Bravo and Encore which probably started as 45-50 minute shows and haven't been cut back. I look forward to seeing the longer versions.
