Rodger Dodger Posted February 7, 2019 #1 Share Posted February 7, 2019 I saw on this site earlier in the week, a list of ships that are on Alaskan cruises that gave an outline of the type of ship, the pros and cons, family type or fine dining , shows etc. I cannot find it now and I am about to book an Alaskan cruise and needed to check this article out. It was following on from " What not to eat at the buffet" article I believe. If I can see this then I will save it this time! TIA
hallux Posted February 7, 2019 #2 Share Posted February 7, 2019 In the banner at the top of the page is a "research" section, then you can pick to research Alaska cruises and view ratings of ships sailing in Alaska. Here's the link I ended up at, to help you out - https://www.cruisecritic.com/ports/area.cfm?area=1&section=ships That's at least a start.
Heidi13 Posted February 8, 2019 #3 Share Posted February 8, 2019 https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/33-alaska/ Above is the link to the Alaska Board where you will find many threads. If you provide some idea of what you are looking for, we can make some suggestions - smaller ships with fewer passengers and more space or larger ships that are more crowded; family friendly, few kids or 18+; average food with lots of additional cost specialty restaurants or better quality food/service throughout the ship; all-inclusive or multiple optional add-ons; R/T seeing only SE Alaska or 1-way N'bd/S'bd which also visit Prince William Sound. Most R/T cruises visit the busy ports of Ketchikan, Juneau & Skagway, where the N'bd/S'bd cruises, especially those on smaller cruises visit some of the smaller ports - Sitka, Icy Strait Point, Valdez. I note that HAL does offer a R/T from Seattle on a smaller ship that I believe is 14 days and it visits many smaller ports.
