  1. I follow the rules, whether cruising or otherwise. But if the rules for participating in an activity are too obtrusive to me, I just do not participate in that activity. Thus I am willing to wear a mask into a restaurant and then take it off to eat if servers wear masks and social distancing is adequately maintained. But I would not eat in a restaurant if I had to follow the rule suggested by the CA governor: put your mask back on between every bite. I am not willing to wear a mask for the entirety of a 5-hour flight or for the majority of a cruise experience. Thus I will obey all rules, but refrain from flying or cruising until masks are not required.
  2. Here is one reason - to maintain on-board booking OBC: We booked a 2020 placeholder cruise while we were on a cruise back in late 2018, with a minimal deposit and bonus OBC for booking on board. Before final payment for the placeholder cruise, we transferred the reservation and booked a July 2021 cruise - while maintaining the bonus OBC. Next April, we will decided whether to make a final payment on the 2021 cruise or again transfer the reservation and book a July 2022 cruise - still maintaining the bonus OBC and the previously paid minimal deposit.
  3. After several years of eating in Blu, we enjoyed Select Dining in the MDR about a year ago on the Reflection. Food is always subjective, but we would say almost as good as in Blu. Wait staff was excellent about the same as in Blu. Ambiance not nearly as great - no where near as refined and much noisier. Wine service was the biggest disappointment - Sommelier was definitely over worked with little or no time for recommendations; and after the first evening of very delayed topping off of drinks, we asked to have the bottle left on the table so that we could do so ourselves.
  4. Also, if you book a package now and later see a sale on the same package, you can cancel your initial package for a refund and then purchase the on sale package at the lower price.
  5. You do not have to join. When you go to cruisedeckplans . com, you are given a choice to Click for PUBLICSITE or Click for MEMBERSITE. So you can just use the PUBLICSITE and still get tons of information for free.
  6. The other difference is that 9215 is facing forward while 8252 is facing aft - so you have the choice of seeing where you are going or where you have been! However, since 9215 is facing forward you will have a little more wind from the ship moving forward.
  7. Pickleball is occasionally played on a few ships, but there are only rarely CC threads on the subject
  8. And the first three cabins on both sides are fully covered as shown above
  9. Yes, there are two different sized larger balconies on the slant and this cabin has the largest of the two sizes. Here is a YouTube video of the cabin (the poster has a 16 second "ad", prior to the rest of the 5 1/2 minute video. 12982.mp4
  10. If they increase the fare by $30 pp per day, then you are getting the drinks package at about half price. And I still eat just as much! 😏
  11. Generally the itinerary and the floating all inclusive unpack once.
  12. Perhaps a more interesting question is, assuming that these new bookings are actually being sold, why are people making such bookings at this time?
  13. Looks a little like the Florence Baptistery, but it is not that
  14. Note also that it is a PVSA violation to book passage from LA to Vancouver and intentionally disembark in San Francisco - although I am sure that there are medical emergency and missed ship exceptions.
  15. Because the Act specifically applies to passenger transportation with embarkment at a US port and disembarkment at a different US port on an individual vessel since the purpose of the Act is to prevent a foreign vessel from competing in the trade of transporting passengers between two US ports
  16. Interesting to see that perhaps those of us over 65 should be more worried! Of course, your data sets are really not comparable since the Death Set is the share of total deaths across all ages while the Worried Set appears to be the percent of each individual age group that is worried. A more comparable Worried Set would be the share of the total population of worried people by age group.
  17. My bad - was not up to speed on the latest changes
  18. An additional factor is that the FCC cannot be used to pay the deposit - must be paid in cash. Perhaps another reason to convert your FCC to cash if that is an option. Hypothetical example: Cruise price $4200 Convert FCC to $4240 You are $40 cash to the good Instead pay say a $500 cash deposit and the rest with FCC You are left with $1600 in residual FCC which may or may not be usable And you are $500 cash to the bad best wishes
  19. Only if we wait until COVID-19 is no longer a significant concern due to effective vaccines; and social distancing is no longer necessary and quarantines are no longer a risk. This may well not happen until 2022 or later.
  20. The following info is from this link: https://citywalk.is/tips/ Cruise ships – There are 2 different piers for cruise ships, Miðbakki and Skarfabakki. Miðbakki is for smaller ships and is located in the old harbour right next to Harpa Concert Hall. Skarfabakki pier is for bigger ships and located a bit further away, it’s about a 30 minute-walk to Harpa concert Hall but there is also a shuttle bus that takes you downtown in 5 minutes operated from the pier and easy to pickup as you dock (sometimes the shuttle is free by the cruise ship but normally there is a single fee 800 ISK). You also have the options of a finding a public bus for 460 ISK bus no. 16. Finally there are plenty of taxis waiting at the port. Small taxi is about 2.500 ISK for 4 pax.
  21. Yeah, we also have four FCCs (2 each) and at best will only be able to use two of them on a July 2021 cruise. Will not be able to use any of them if cruising is not safe until 2022.
  22. You probably already know this, but just to clarify, you are allowed to use 1 FCC per person per sailing - so 2 FCCs per couple.
  23. And you expect business sense from a government bureaucracy? Happy cruising and sipping - certainly sipping sooner than cruising!
  24. Brooks was/is outstanding - both in his musical performance and in his interesting commentaries regarding the pieces being played. One of Brooks' most interesting comments concerned the creation of Rhapsody in Blue - apparently George Gershwin had committed to writing and performing a new composition in a major concert hall, but had entirely forgotten about it until seeing an advertisement in Variety stating that he would be performing a new work two weeks later. Hence one of his most important pieces was written in less than two weeks!
  25. I'm sure you know the obvious simple answer - Celebrity wants to keep your money as long as possible to maintain as much positive cash flow as possible (perhaps I should have said to minimize the negative cash flow as much as possible.)
