Ferry to St John

Docking at Crown Bay on Symphony in couple weeks.  Where does ferry to St. John and trunk bay (either on a ship or excursion or on our own?) leave from and return to?

The EASY Way is to take an excursion offered by the ship.  

You'll be picked up at the ship, taken to have fun, and returned to the ship ... with no planning and worries for you.

If it's still like last year when I took a Royal cruise to St Thomas, their excursion to St John was a joke. It was like 4-6 total hours, including an hour each way for a boat ride, leaving very minimal time in St John for lounging. On the flip side, we ran off the boat, grabbed a cab, and was on the ferry 45 minutes later, and on the beach about 15 minutes after arriving in Cruz Bay. So much more enjoyable, and barely more work.
