Ballroom dancing on the Oosterdam

We used to sail mainly on HAL as it was a great fit with our interests - good itineraries, good food, great staff, and most important of all, ballroom dancing every evening in the Ocean Bar.  The last few HAL cruises we did had very little or absolutely no ballroom dancing so we have been sailing other lines that offer dance time. We now see there’s a great 28 night itinerary on Oosterdam that is tempting but we know we will be frustrated if there is no dancing.  Can those of you who have been on Oosterdam recently please let us know if the dancing is back?  And please don’t count the BB Kings.  We have tried to dance to their music but it is not a fit for ballroom and is so loud we can’t tolerate being in their area for more than a few minutes.

HI

If you want an extensive ballroom dancing program with great orchestras, dance lessons on sea days and  nice dance floors try Cunard Line.  With only three ships the routes the sail are obviously limited compared to HAL.  Good luck!

Many thx for these replies.  We have done a few Cunard cruises not only for the great dancing , but also the old world elegance that we enjoy (we are some of those strange people who love formal wear but we know it is not everyone’s cup of tea).  Also good for dancing are Princess and apparently Celebrity but we won’t know for sure until our first cruise on that line this fall.  We have also had great dancing on Regent and Crystal but can’t afford them very often.

We will have to give a lot of thought to the Oosterdam cruise as Princess has a similar itinerary but it is more expensive with fewer perks from our TA.

Just off Oosterdam on June 9.  Sadly no ballroom dancing.  Not on Celebrity Reflection a few years ago either.  I think ballroom dancing is over for Holland, Princess. and Celebrity.  From what I understand  QM2 has orchestra and nice nice floor.  We're looking at cruises  from US to London and after few days in London, board QM2 for NY.
