Rappelling man??

Back in May 2016 I was on the Carnival Splendor. Near the port of Curacao a helicopter approached the ship and a man rappelled down. I am curiious why this happened?? Here are a couple pics from that day. I was scared and I am cruising again in a couple months. Is this something I should worry about again? It was not for a medical emergency. The captain announced about 30 minutes later that is was US Navy but I didn't believe him. 20160511_105037.thumb.jpg.e296e5a9045cf04ee0a8257d09b02be1.jpgThanks

why you would be scared?   The captain was not allowing an enemy takeover...it was either a medical emergency or something specifically necessary for the ship.   Perhaps some security training?

Whatever it was...it was nothing to be concerned about as a passenger.

Why are you scared/didn't believe the Captain? Do you think any cruise line would allow this if it wasn't safe.  Maybe the guy missed the ship in the last port. 😊 I truly do not believe you have anything to worry about. As klfrodo said, it may be a training exercise. Happy sails.

Bc I sent the pic to my son who was a Marine at the time and he said it wasn't one of ours.

Bu one of ours I assume you mean American?

what about all America’s allies???

But anyway if you’re so scared just stay home. If you don’t believe the captain just stay home.

Please don’t let those “snarky “ comments add to your fears.  There have been heart attack victims who have needed help on several ships in the past few years.  It could have been some kind of specialist flown in for a mechanical issue or computer issue or who knows what. Someone delivering something to the ship.  Maybe not our copter but a local coast guard copter delivering something.  Point is, you’ll never know, so don’t go crazy and second guess what it could have been.  If bad, it would have been on the news or media feed.

With the thousands of cruisers sailing over the years without issue, I wouldn’t give it another thought.  Come onboard and have a good time and Don’t let ANYONE tell you otherwise.
