What is the best way to get from the Boston cruise terminal to Fenway Park, wanting to do a tour of Fenway.?

Probably Uber or Lyft.  Public Transit on the T costs $2.90/pp but involves taking the Silverline to South Station, doing the free transfer to the Red Line to Park St, and doing the free transfer to the Green Line B, C, or D train to Kenmore and walking (D train will go to Fenway),  Details can be provided.

What are you doing after the Fenway Park Tour?  The T will get you many places in downtown for further exploration.  You can Uber or take the T right back to the port.

We would probably want to go downtown after the tour, you are suggesting public transit, is it one bus

from Fenway?

It’s the Green Line trolley, which runs underground in that part of the city.

I would book the tour of Fenway beforehand, you don’t want to get closed out before you get there.

Where exactly do you consider “downtown”. You can walk to Back Bay from Fenway.

Exactly.  If the OP can identify what else they might like to do in Boston, we can offer more suggestions.

Just checked Back Bay...will definitely walk there after Fenway, thanks for the suggestion.

What would the approx walking time from the cruise terminal to Downtown Crossing then cross the concourse to Green Line D to Fenway Park?  Thanks for your help.

Google estimates 41 minutes for about 2 miles. IMO the walk to South Station is uninspiring.  From South Station you would walk Summer and Winter St through downtown to the Park St Green Line/Red Line Station.  Skip the underground concourse unless it’s raining.

I agree, don't walk from the cruise terminal to the city to catch the Green Line, unless you are REALLY into long walks.  The trip will cost you the same $2.90 if you start at the dock or if you start in the city as the transfers inside the stations are free.

From Fenway to Boston Common or the Public Garden is about a mile walk and there are many pleasant options (I prefer Commonwealth Avenue with the heavily treed walkway down the middle)

If you're going to Fenway, be sure to stop at Wahlburgers for one of the great burgers around.  I would also recommend SoWa (South of Washington Ave, Boston's take on SoHo) (different direction from Back Bay) where there is a open air market and some real good restaurants like Toro.

Thank You for all of the great suggestions.  This is my plan for the day and your comments or suggestions are welcome.

We will take Uber from the cruise terminal to Fenway Park for a 10:00am tour.  After the tour, as suggested we will walk

to Back Bay and enjoy the sites and then have lunch somewhere..Suggestions!  From Back Bay we intend to walk to Macy's at Downtown Crossing and then "possibly" walk to the cruise terminal.  Is this doable??  We enjoy walking and weather permitting we should be OK.  Also, our 9 year old grandsons have requested a Celtics and Red Sox t-shirts, where would be a good place to buy them..not the jerseys but a good quality t-shirt.?  Thanks for all you help.

I'd go for t-shirts at Quincy Market.

You can walk to the cruise terminal from Downtown Crossing, but.... it’s 2.3 miles, a lot of which IMO is just not that interesting.  From Downtown Crossing I would walk down Summer St to South Station and take the Silver Line SL 2 bus (underground from South Station to World Trade and Street level to Black Falcon Terminal.  If it’s raining take the Red Line Direction Braintree/Ashmont one stop for a free transfer to the Silver Line at South Station.

If you do decide to walk, go down Summer Street to South Station and continue one block to Dorchester Ave on the Fort Point Channel.  Make a left and go one block to Congress St where you make a right to cross the channel.  Make an immediate left across the channel and walk along the channel past the Children’s Museum to Seaport Blvd where you make a right to head towards the port along the waterfront.

If you're a big walker it's not impossible to walk from City Hall to Fenway.  Its a good hike but you see all sorts of things.  You can check out Boston Commons and Public Gardens, Acorn Street in Beacon Hill and the Cheers bar on Beacon St. Go down Newbury or Boylston, maybe check out the Christian Science Plaza on Huntington and make you're way there.  There's no better way to see the city than to walk it. if need be you can take a cab back.  Or the subway.
