trk_koa Posted September 9, 2019 #1 Share Posted September 9, 2019 Thanks to a long time discussion of tonic for G&T on the Azamara board, my DH has gotten a taste for Fever Tree tonic. He can live with Schweppes. Anybody know if either of those are available on Zuiderdam? if not, we will make an effort to buy some before embarkation. We have the SBP if that matters. TIA, Nancy

We love our G&T’s too! We as for a shot of Bombay Sapphire on ice with lime AND A CAN UNOPENED OF SEAGRAMS! Do your own! The tonic from the bars that they use a hose (I’m sorry they use it for come water etc. is nasty and we have had FLAT TONIC !!!!) and made our wonderful drink awful! we have learned over many many years how to get a good Gin and Tonic!!!! You can bring your favorite tonic on board! We do! Denise😊

trk_koa Posted September 10, 2019 Author #5 Share Posted September 10, 2019 I’ll ask him if Seagrams is ok. If not, I guess we will be shopping. He likes a Bombay Sapphire so I will suggest he ask for it separately with ice and lime (in a tall glass) as recommended. Thank you!
DoggyDaddy Posted September 10, 2019 #6 Share Posted September 10, 2019 How much difference is there between Bombay and Bombay Sapphire? On longer cruises I get a gin and tonic setup for the room and it is “Bombay”. For a fair amount more I can get a bottle (both liter bottles) of Bombay Sapphire. The tonic has been both no-name and Swepps(sp). Question - is the Sapphire worth the difference? DD

WisRiver Posted September 11, 2019 #8 Share Posted September 11, 2019 On our July 2020 cruise we bought three bottles of Bombay gin, one was Sapphire and the other was Bombay Original. The one bottle of Bombay Original was 37 ½ % alcohol while the second was 40 % alcohol. The Sapphire was 47 % alcohol. We like our G & T's in our room before dinner, so we brought our own Fever Tree Tonic and limes on board. For us there was not much difference between the Sapphire or Original when mixed in a G & T. When we ran out of tonic we picked up tonic in ports.
DoggyDaddy Posted September 12, 2019 #9 Share Posted September 12, 2019 WisRiver, did you order the bottles of Gin or the gin and tonic? 2020 cruise??? half of the time I just drink Gin on the rocks, that is why I wondered about the difference. At home I drink Beefeaters or Tankeray. On a whim I tried a bottle of New Amsterdam- it wasn’t bad but I won’t do it again. DD
WisRiver Posted September 12, 2019 #10 Share Posted September 12, 2019 We just ordered the bottles of gin, rather than the G & T package. Remember the limes. One year on a transatlantic we ran out of limes in mid ocean, so we had to go to the bar to get a glass of cut up limes.
