How does an upgrade work?

This may be a foolish question but when you bid on an upgrade it is per day or per trip?  For example, if I bid $50 is that $50 total or $50 per night for a 7 night cruise? And it is applied to both my and my guest (there are two of us in the cabin.)

Thanks in advance.

In your example it would be $100 for the entire 7 nights. When you proceed to check out you will clearly see the total charge when they ask you for the credit card you want to use. You are not charged unless the bid is accepted.
