Rare LINDAE3213 Posted December 12, 2019 #1 Share Posted December 12, 2019 anyone been to both beaches and can advise the difference ? looking for a few hours on the beach -- prefer bathroom facilities over porta potties. and do you need to set a time for taxi return or are they readily available to return to the cruise port ? this island is stop # 3 of 5 stops on our cruise so i am trying to be flexible on each port ( not booking excursions ) in case we are beached out ( sunburned ) or weather that morning doesn't look promising. Lard Greystoke Posted December 22, 2019 #2 Share Posted December 22, 2019 Can't speak to Dickenson's but I've been to Turner's. Nice beach, restaurant at south end, so all your amenities. I took the bus as opposed to a taxi so can't comment on that.
Misty Morning Posted December 27, 2019 #3 Share Posted December 27, 2019 Definitely Turners, much quieter. Dickenson is busy with Sandals, jet skis . 2 restaurants on the beach, Turners Beach restaurant (cheaper) and Jacqui O's (more expensive but really nice). hal2008 Posted January 2, 2020 #5 Share Posted January 2, 2020 (edited) The usual advice on this board is that while most beaches on Antigua has sharp drop off at water-line, Turners does not have that. That is NOT TRUE. Turners also have sharp drop off along with misleading dangerous sandbars giving you false sense of safety. The area all the way to the left has less of the drop off but it is rocky. I would go to Dickenson for the safety, amenities and ease of transportation next time (10 min by 3 USD pp taxi) especially if there are not too many ships in the port. By the way, Barbados has much better beach experience. Edited January 2, 2020 by hal2008
