PixieMom3 Posted January 24, 2020 #1 Share Posted January 24, 2020 Taking my dad and sister on their first cruise, going to Alaska in May on Bliss, and have splurged for two balcony rooms (originally had one inside room but I got claustrophobic just thinking about it and couldn't have dad's first cruise be an inside room). Wanted two rooms connecting or next door so we can keep an eye on dad. Currently in rooms next to each other on deck 13 port side towards the back but near the stairs, a plus. There are connecting rooms on deck 9 available on both sides. Price difference is less than $100. Should we stay on deck 13? Is there any advantage of one deck over another? Rare BirdTravels Posted January 24, 2020 #2 Share Posted January 24, 2020 On Deck 9 you want to be mindful of what is under you. You do not want to be over a club or bar or smoking area. Also, you have the roof of the waterfront directly at your feet obstructing your view directly down on mud ship rooms.

Deck 9 has restaurants etc below aft on deck 8: as Bird notes. Deck 13 is sandwiched between decks with only other cabins. I’d stay with deck 13 as the difference in elevation gives better view IMHO. I’m on 5/17 Bliss.
poohdreaming Posted January 24, 2020 #4 Share Posted January 24, 2020 In my opinion - stay on Deck 13. And a balcony would be a good choice going to Alaska. Can hangout/look at ice glaciers as well as the ocean from your own balcony.
PixieMom3 Posted January 26, 2020 Author #5 Share Posted January 26, 2020 I'll keep the rooms on deck 13. We are on Bliss the week after you Petoonya. Enjoy your cruise.
