Difference between ocean view cabins on Main Deck or Lower Promenade Deck on Zaandam

We are planning a long cruise on the Zaandam. We would like to know if there is a big difference between lower promenade and main deck ocean view cabins in regard to overall size, closet space, bathrooms, etc.

Also, we would appreciate any quiet cabin locations as we are light sleepers. Thank you.

We sailed on Zaandam from Vancouver to Rio in Sep/Oct 2017.  We were in 1827 on the main deck.  Loved the location as we are early risers.  This cabin is right below one of the gangplank locations.  We enjoyed watching all the maneuvers.  Our cabin was identical to the lower promenade deck cabins that we visited during the cruise.  We had a lower promenade on Zuiderdam in 2019.  The only concern there is people who want to jog on the promenade deck even when it's posted 'no jogging'.  Again as early risers not much of a problem.

Just be aware of where the possible gangplank locations are.  We thought main deck was very quiet all in all.

The outside cabins on Lower Promenade on the Zaandam (and the Volendam) are significantly smaller than the outside cabins on the lower two decks. As a matter of fact, they are smaller than the inside cabins across the passageway. The space has been allocated to the walking deck outside.
IIRC, there is one less closet in the outside cabins, giving you two full closets, and the one with fixed shelves, plus the short hanging area below. I believe it's a love seat instead of the fll couch in there, too. The bathroom is the same size.

I always preferred main deck staterooms on all S-class and R-class ships because there are ONLY staterooms both above and below you.  There are NO public spaces (casinos, dining venues, showrooms, etc).  Therefore, they are QUIET!!

Umm, notice that I used the past tense in the above paragraph.  Those were the days when there were 8 of those ships, and now there are just 2 😢😢😢.

Thank you. Are there any specific cabins you would recommend on the Main deck as being quieter than others?

I haven't stayed on Main Deck that often to notice much noise. I might want to stay away from the elevator banks, and between them.

I was in an outside next to the forward gangway area once, and did hear noise when that was in use. But it was a very convenient spot! Another time I was further back, the first cabin where the category dropped down one notch, and it was fine.

I'm sorry! I meant to say 'I book a cabin between them'! I just noticed I left out an important word that changed the meaning entirely.
Just leave a cabin or two between yours and the elevator banks.

my unsolicited opinion is to not get ocean view. Either go with balcony or go to interior. It's not that big of a difference to have a window vs interior except that the ocean view room will be hotter than the interior.

We've had a few Outside Main Deck cabins on the Volendam and they are great.  The only thing is not to take a cabin too close to the stern as we found the engines can be a bit noisy.  Let's hope the Volendam and Zaandam remain in the fleet for a while yet.
