Change in Luggage Tag for disembarkation procedure?

We live in San Diego, a port town.  When we checked into a flight for a cruise departing out of Florida, the airport person checking us in started to rip off our cruise tags, thinking we'd just debarked in San Diego.

Now we always put the cruise tags on right before boarding the ship.

I never put my cruise tags on until I am 20 minutes from port be that in the hotel or in baggage claim.  It confuses baggage handlers and announces to the world that you are destined for a cruise.

I do use plastic tags, but before I had them,,,,,,I printed the tags and folded as instructed.  Cover the tag with clear packing tape.  Punch holes in each end and use a zip tie to attach to your bag. Works well.
