I have....several times...gotten Drinks On Us within a day of being on a ship, however....I always already had Cheers. Now I am less of a drinker but do enjoy it. I obviously have the money to gamble so I had better have the money to buy a few drinks however...this leads me to a few questions. Do any of you getting DOU also feel the need to buy Cheers and why? Are there problems with the hours of the bars? Casino service times? Will they let you order straight from the casino bar? Just trying to get a handle to plan better for New Years cruise where I KNOW there will probably be more drinking than usual. TIA

To be technical, with DOU you have to be actively playing and order from a bar waitress, you aren't allowed to order directly from the bar (as it was explained to us) but they were super relaxed about it and never gave us any issue ordering directly from the bar. If you can get the 1500 points quick, no real need for Cheers as long as you don't mind going to the casino to get your fix. They are among the last bars to close anyway.

That you were able to order from the casino bar with DOU as you mentioned it san exception and certainly doesn't happen on a regular basis. We travel at least a couple of Carnival casino cruises annually for years and we haven't had that exception.

The first time I had DOU, I did not purchase Cheers.  I regretted it.  I'm not typically a "hit the max" drinker on Cheers, but getting a drink in the casino was a fairly good sized PITA.  I didn't necessarily want to spend a ton of time in front of a machine that cruise, so I would typically end up with 1-2 free drinks max in a day.  It did not make up for my brunch bloody Mary, my Lido froofies, my dinner wine.  DOU is pretty much a non-perk for me and I've always just gotten Cheers anyway since then.
