Bubble in Mahohany Bay?

I apologize if this has been asked before. My wife and I are taking our five year old grandson on his first cruise in June on the Mardi Gras. He will turn five a week before the cruise and wouldn't have enough time to get vaccinated and wait the two weeks to be considered fully vaccinated. I'm not to worried about Cozumel as we can do a ship's dolphin tour and, I guess, walk around the shops at the pier.  Is Mahogany Bay considered under the bubble for carnival or would my grandson have to stay on the ship? Thanks in advance.

You'll be required to do a bubble tour in Cozumel and will not be allowed to walk around or visit any shops.

From Carnival's website:

  • Unvaccinated guests cannot go ashore in the ports of call on their own. Guests may only debark in the ports of call if booked on a Carnival-sponsored bubble tour.
  • Carnival-approved bubble tours are excursions that operate in a controlled environment. Guests will be escorted from the ship to their excursion and back to the ship immediately upon return from the shore excursion. No unscheduled stops are permitted (i.e., gift shops, bars, restaurants, etc.).

They enforce that too.  At our stop in Nassau a few weeks ago I heard a tour guide getting onto a guest who thought it was OK to leave his group and pop into a gift shop.

Surely by then, they will do away with all the bubble tours as covid cases drop and most kids are vaccinated.  I would expect they would do away with regulations for kids under 5 by then.  Does anyone else think so?

I sure hope so, although I hope it would go away for Feb.  It's debate to bring our 2 year old or leave her with her grandma.
