Please tell me about the Legend and solo sailing on Carnival

I just did a very impulsive thing and booked myself (dh can't go) a cruise on the Legend two weeks from today!  I just couldn't spit in the face of such a great opportunity, and dh agreed (he's the best of men for letting me go even though he can't).  Not only was the price right  (377.84 for an obstructed interior room, which as most people know is not an interior room but an exterior room with french doors and a limited view), but the ship leaves from Baltimore which is an hour from home.  This will probably be the only time I will have no traveling or pre-cruise expenses  and more than enough OBC for the tips and the few drinks I'll probably have each day.

Since I've never booked a cruise any sooner than several months out, I've never been less prepared for a cruise before.  I could use some feedback from Legend guests (nothing recent on the search I did) and on solo cruising with CARNIVAL  (The Solo cruiser forum has scant partication right now and barely anything from Carnival cruisers).  TIA

The Legend is my favorite ship, and your french door interior is the type of cabin i prefer.  You will get to see the ocean under you, and sometimes by looking out.  You can hear the waves, you just don't pay to sit outside in the hot sun.  I wouldn't worry too much about the solo part.  you know folks on cruises are friendly, but I would recommend that if you go in port, do an excursion, just so you are not alone too much of the time.  Take a good book, enjoy what shows are offered, and relax. I would also suggest that you do anytime dining, unless you had to lock in to a time, and again, its a good way to make friends.  The best part of the Legend is the promenade deck, right under your cabin, where you can walk around the whole ship-3 times is a mile.  You will find your happy place, and cruise happy!

I have never heard so much talk about solo cruising. Now that I'm researching for my next cruise, it's everywhere. You're right about it being mostly other cruise lines. The last time I checked solo cruising it was expensive, almost the same rate of 2 passengers. It seems like they are doing better on pricing for solo guests. That excites me, because like you I have a fabulous husband that is fine with me going without him. Definitely going to consider a solo cruise 🛳  prices are great right now. I'm 6 hrs from my nearest port, so I guess I'll have to put my big girl pants on and drive myself.  Hubby always drives me. Have a blast and enjoy everything your heart desires.

The single supplement is always a burden for solo cruisers. Great deals without the supplement on the upper/lower, 1A Interior cabins.

I booked Horizon for 12/26, the third pax fare was so high I booked a 1A at a great rate with an RU2 Cheers code. The 2 cabins were a better deal than 3 in one cabin.

I've been cruising solo for about 8 years and love it.  My last 7 cruises were on Pride, which is nearly identical to Legend.  The size of the ship is perfect for me.  I've meet a lot of solo cruisers on my adventures and a lot of repeaters from Baltimore.  I saw the same people on almost every cruise.

It's nice to do what you want when you want to and not answer to anyone else.

The solo cost for me is kept down because I get casino offers so I'm usually just paying taxes and port charges.   Most of the time I'll get the 4K cabins too which I like and once in a while they throw me a balcony.  It's all good!

I do early dining and get my own table.  I love to meet new people, just not at dinner.  I tried it and didn't like it.

Looking forward to the Legend coming to Baltimore,  I will truly miss the Pride.

I say do it! I have my first solo cruise this week and another solo on Thanksgiving. I paid $84 for a 4 night cruise and under $300 with a $200 OBC for the other. It will cost me more to board my dogs! I’m excited and nervous because I’m an introvert but being able to do what I want, when I want it very appealing to me.

I have been on the Legend several times and it is one of my favorite ships.  I have also sailed solo several times though not on the Legend.  I normally cruise with family and love it - however, I also enjoy being on my own.

I use the solo cruises as a time to totally relax.  I don't eat in the dining room, although if you want to meet people you should - they will normally seat you with other solos or with women in the same age group.  I'm not good with eating alone in a restaurant but totally enjoy eating on the Lido with my kindle or my phone watching shows I've  downloaded.

If you are good at keeping yourself company - or if you love meeting people and are outgoing - I believe you will enjoy a solo cruise.
