San Francisco Hotel

Trying to decide if it's better to stay close to port or airport when cruising out of San Francisco.  Considering Holiday Inn Express.  We will need transportation either way.  We haven't booked our flight yet so not sure what time we'll be getting in.  Thanks for any suggestions!

There are tons of hotels around the airport, but otherwise no real reason to stay there. Far more to do downtown near the port.

First trip to San Francisco (or not)?  I recommend a hotel near Fisherman's Wharf.  Lots more to see/do for whatever time to have in this great city.

Getting in late one day prior just stay by the airport.  Hotels there are usually cheaper than downtown.  If more than one day in San Francisco then stay in downtown and enjoy the sights.

If you get in before 6PM, I'd go into the City. Stay in Union Square or the Embarcadero.

 

If you get in much later than 6PM, I'd stay by the airport. The Bay Landing is our favorite SFO hotel.
