Vaccine & Testing Requirements Overview

For those who don't receive or read the Cruise Critic emails here is a very good overview of what cruise line are requiring vaccine and testing wise before boarding.  All subject to change at any minute, but good baseline guidelines none the less.

Unfortunately, even a quick, cursory fact check reveals a number of errors. For example, the document states for Holland America that "Mixed doses are not currently accepted on U.S. departures" whereas HAL's website states "Guests will be considered fully vaccinated who have received their final dose of an approved/authorized COVID-19 vaccine, or any combination of two doses of an authorized or approved vaccine at least 14 days prior to the beginning of the cruise." HAL then cites  Pfizer (1 Dose) + Moderna (1 Dose)  or  Pfizer (1Dose) OR Moderna (1 Dose) + 1 Dose AstraZeneca as examples of acceptable mixed doses.

 

I don't know when this article was written, but there are numerous references such as "Celebrity is currently (October 2021)" and "as of August 14, all passengers, regardless of vaccination status, will be required..." (future tense) that suggest that it was written, at least in part, as early as last summer. 

 

Bottom line: always check with your cruise line for accurate and up to date information.

Sometimes these articles are misleading in context but do give an idea. For anything conclusive and current it’s safer to go direct to source. NCL does antigen tests on check in at their expense for sailings starting up to and including Feb 28th. Effective March 1 tests are to be done at the expense of the passenger, 48 hours before departure for US sailings or 72 hours from non US ports.

OMGOSH....I honestly am getting sooooo stressed on what I need to do to board my cruise March 26 out of Miami.....What's accepted, what's not accepted, when I need to have my rapid antigen test done before I board my plane.....yada yada yada😔

Hello.

Booked on Carnival Horizon in April of this year. Trying to figure out their testing requirements for boarding for fully Vaccinated guests. Their website is a little confusing and states:

"The CDC requires pre-cruise testing for vaccinated guests, ages 2 and older, to be taken within two days prior to the sailing date."
It does not say whether this can be an Antigen test or a PCR test.

Further down the page, it also states:
"Guests ages 2 and older must present a negative PCR COVID-19 test, taken within 72 and 24 hours prior to the sailing date at check-in "

It's unclear whether the PCR requirement applies to Unvaccinated guests?
Can anyone sailing on Carnival know clarify?
Much appreciated.

First highlighted text in section titled "Fully Vaccinated Guests". Antigen or molecular tests are allowed.

 

Second highlighted text in section titled "Unvaccinated Guests — Exemptions to Vaccination Standards". Presumably text under this bolded blue heading applies to that qualification.

That whole section on VACCINATION & TESTING STANDARDS contained within a light blue box is divided into two sub-sections, the first for Fully Vaccinated Guests and the second for Unvaccinated Guests — Exemptions to Vaccination Standards. The text that you quote that refers to 72 and 24 hours is only for unvaccinated passengers. Assuming that you are fully vaccinated, stick to the first sub-section.
