True but that does not explain a very loud banging that was fixed with two hours work in port.

It could if it was a balcony dividing door that was not secured properly.

That is not flex that is built in to the ship as davecttr was saying and I was answering.

Deck 15 balcony in calm seas had the creaking and groaning...and that was just the wife!

We had maintenence come and take a look as the noise was coming from the ceiling and it was driving me mad, waking me up in the small hours.  They pulled open the ceiling inspection hatch and put a load of insulation up there and that seemed to cure it.

Yes we were on Iona last year, balcony cabin deck 12 Fwd and noticed the creaking/banging/grinding noises when the sea was not totally calm which woke me up a lot, I put it down to being new and hope it would bed in by the next time we go on her.

I am a light sleeper so does not take much to wake me, also noticed in the morning the sun light above the top of the curtains woke me as unlike other ships there was no pelmet which is a shame.
