Port of Call Documentation

Understand the need for all COVID documentation to get into US and on ships.  During cruise if a port of call requires specific COVID documentation for that country can you get it onboard prior to disembarking at that port via the ship?  Or, is it your responsibility to acquire it prior to leaving on trip and take it with you?  Hypothetically example on a cruise you have a port of call in let's say Barbados.  Saying Barbados requires a specific Barbados COVID document filled out and presented.  Where or when would the passenger need to get that document?  Anybody ran into this?

Hypothetically speaking, your cruiseline's website will tell you in advance what special requirements are for any port of call, in addition to informing you of the requirement by email. Your TA may do the same. If a new requirement was announced after the cruise embarked, the cruiseline would determine whether or not it would be feasible for all passengers to meet the new requirement and whether to change the itinerary.

If ports have different criteria based on nationality I wouldn't expect the cruise line to inform passengers. It might, but ultimately the responsibility falls to the passenger.

I cannot speak to any other cruise line but both Princess and Holland America had the requirements in the booking under important notices.  I googled each country’s requirements as we had to fill out a locator form for England up to 3 days prior to sailing if the itinerary was longer than X amount of days.  (Requirement was dropped halfway through our sailing so didn’t need it after all.)

 

In the case of Portugal, the online locator form had to be filled in up to 96 hours prior to arrival.  The ship let us know it was needed and gave us an example of what was required a few days before arrival, but the ship’s internet was not working so Guest Services filled them in and slipped a copy under our doors.
