We have an Alaska cruise booked for May 2023 on Silver Whisper.  We just returned from a 14 day Princess Alaska cruise which blessed us with unbelievably gorgeous weather.  We’re now thinking of changing to a SS Norwegian fjords cruise.  Would you recommend starboard or port?

Most Norway cruises travel both north and south along the coast, so both sides are viewing the coast at times. And you're generally too far off the coast for it to matter a great deal, anyway. When you're in one of the fjords, it's a dead end trip and you'll be sailing out the way you came in, so both sides of the ship will see both sides of the fjord (plus the captain may have the ship do a pirouette in the fjord). And of course, on a small ship, it's easy enough to get up on deck or to a lounge with a view. So I'd say it probably doesn't matter.

I've been on both smaller and large ships to the fjords; it doesn't make a lot of difference because the ship always turns at the port or just offshore and goes out, so you see the other side of the fjord going out from the one you saw going in. Generally you're quite close to the sides for the last 30 minutes or so sailing in, and the first 30 going out, before the fjord widens. Nothing like a glass of something on the veranda then!
