need hotel in Ft. Lauderdale.....Help

we will be in ft. Lauderdale for the 4/23 sailing of the Liberty....And then again in Sept..... where has people stayed that were close to port But in a area to walk to Mall or places to eat???????????

In January we stayed at the Hyatt pier 66 and tried to use the watertaxi. we waited at the stop with others for a hr and none came... so we went back to Hotel and ate $$$$$$$$$ food. Bummer

need info to find place we can walk to places.

stay in the los olas area. not too far from port , and close to alot of restaurants and bars.

We will be staying at the Holiday Inn Express on 17th st near the convention center in May. According to the experts on this site they say it is ideal. Near stores, restaurants etc. Do a search on this forum and put in Fort lauderdale Hotels. All sorts of info comes up.

There are several restraunts adjacent to the Amerisuites. There is a strip mall with a Publix supermarket and an Eckerds Drugs across 17th Street. There is a liquor store across 17th Street as well.

It probably would be a good idea to read other threads here regarding Amerisuites. There are from fair to bad recommendations, with remodeling and such suggested as a cause.

 

Seems that I read that a hotel near Amerisuites is being demolished, this could pose a problem with noise, dust, etc. I don't remember where I read that bit of trivia - probably on the internet somewhere.:confused:

 

We will be in Holiday Inn Express next April, and found the pricing around that time of year is higher than expected, but we truly do want this vacation to be "nice" in all ways.

DougR, Guess you haven't been to FLL in awhile. The Publix is now on the same side of the street as Amerisuites. It's part of a new strip shopping center with many shops, restaurants and a huge liquor/wine store. ;)
