Hello,

going to cruise out of Brooklyn in Oct. going to take the train to Penn station nyc. What is the best way to get to Brooklyn cruise terminal? Cab? Any idea of the price thanks a.l

Taxi, Uber or Lyft.

It can vary by traffic and demand but figure $35 to $50.

It depends on whether you're accustomed to using public transportation, desirous of using the ferry to get there, or prefer a private car. Each is reasonable for getting there.

Depending upon weather, I would suggest taxi or Uber to South Street then ferry across to Red Hook - followed by a very short walk to the terminal.  If it is winter/rainy/frigid, just take the taxi/uber to terminal.  Do not pay any attention to the mavens who will suggest subway from Penn Station -- you are taking a cruise because you want a good time -- why start it with a ride in the electric sewer?

Thank you will have luggage and I do not want to do the subway. Where do you get the ferry from in Manhattan and where does it drop you off in brooklyn

You get the ferry at pier 11, which is located at Wall Street and the East River.  The ferry dock in Brooklyn is adjacent the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal, literally just a few steps away.

A very helpful video on You Tube shows disembarking the ferry at Red Hook with the short walk to the cruise ship. Enter 'traveling to brooklyn cruise terminal by ferry' in the YT search bar.

Wouldn't it be so convenient if some porters were stationed at the Red Hook ferry dock on cruise days?

One could also board the ferry on East 34th Street, changing vessels at Pier 11. It could be a slightly shorter taxi ride, going crosstown on 34th Street, but offset with a longer ferry ride (same fare as sailing directly from Pier 11). Perhaps in the future there will be direct or connecting ferry service from Pier 79 to Red Hook (for now service from Pier 79 operates only to Battery Park City and Staten Island).
