Schooner Bar's Rum Old-Fashion Recipe?

Hey all,

 

So, I completely fell in love with this drink two weeks ago but am unable to find a recipe that matches it. I know it has 3 ingredients (Bacardi Ocho Rum, Cocunut syrup and bitters) as we as two garnishes (orange and cherry). Any chance anyone on here knows the correct ratios? Thanks for any help!

why don't you ask them how they make it.  often bar folks will share recipes.

I would just experiment until it’s to your liking. I never measure anything. Since coconut syrup is sweet, go light on that. Like a splash and then a dash of bitters. The alcohol would be to your taste. I would start with 3oz, but I like strong drinks. If to strong, add a little more syrup.

That was what my wife recommended to me too...after we left the cruise. If I had it to do over again, I would have.

They use Monin syrup and Angostura bitters if this helps you get closer  to the recipe. 

 

Get everything in the glass 1st before adding ice and give it a good spin. Even the size of ice effects the flavor.

They use   Reserva   Ocho rum. A golden rum that has a different taste, the vanilla comes out when chilled in a glass with ice.
